Really not feeling like it...

by: pcjjap

Mood: fed up - sore - impatient..!!
Listening to: nought!

As you can probably imagine I really am not feeling up to doing much school, especially not with five children around all day! We did start our 'Plants' project on Monday with some success (I was having a good day). We went into the garden to collect whatever plants took the children's fancy (within reason) and then spread them all over the living room floor - on newspaper - to be studied thoroughly. We even managed to pull up a baby Oak tree with the shoot still coming out of the acorn! Then back to the table to 'write up' what we learned - so far, so good! But I couldn't face it today, despite the children practically begging me to do some more! It didn't help that the little work I did set the boys to do this morning they dallied over - althought they did eventually finish it. Joel is doing some lovely drawing and writting at the moment. He has these 'Draw then Write' books which are a bit like the 'Draw Write Now' books I think, only less detailed drawings and not so prescriptive over what the child writes. Joel had to draw a caterpillar today. Then he drew another and answered the questions; Who/what?, What did it do?, Where?, When?  & Why? in note form. Then he had to write a sentance putting it all together. He wrote - "A caterpillar ate a leaf in the forest at 6.00 because he was hungry." (The 6.00 bit made me smile!)Tommorrow's task is to expand that sentance into a more full (but still short) paragraph of writing with a more detailed picture (a big, furry, purple caterpillar on a log). He seems to really love doing these exercises and they are very good 'following written instructions' practice too.

Paul was out most of the day - signing on this morning and an interview this afternoon (data input personel) - he's got a second interview, but I want him here at home just now (can't think why!!).

This evening - being such a beautiful day - we decided to have a BBQ. If you can't see these pics very well check over HERE.

Summer Days, drifting away...

It's all about ice-cream...

...and stamina,

...a nice warm bath...

...and a cosy towel...

AND a spotty-tot snuggly bum to go to bed in
