What is Blogging?

Blogging, short for weblogging, desribes a web page that an individual uses as a sort of on line journal or diary, listing links to sites they have looked at and reviews of their content. The creators of the pages are known as bloggers. More comprehensive descriptions of blogging can be found at Rebeccas Pocket, Wikipedia and BBC Webwise

The page is generally used to express personal feelings or thoughts and often invite others to comment. There seem to be blogs on a vast number of subjects from serious news and moral issues Like This One down to the general ramblings of everyday inane subjects Such as This, Or This.

A number of free blogging tools are readily available on line and all claim that it is very easy and quick to create your own web page. The one I used at blogigo.co.uk was cretainly easy to use.

Many blogs contain links to other blogs and the creators of each may get involved in an asynchronous discussion forum, commenting on and replying to items in each others web page.

It seems that blogs could empower even the quietest or meekest of people to have their say in a public forum and be heard by anyone in the world who cares to listen.
