In the last moments of the day this poem came to me

The conscience of the government is tied to a chair

In a backstreet alley way no one knows quite whare

Beaten to a bloody pulp petrol dripping from its hair

As careless fingers strike a match it doesn’t seem so fair

13 dead detainees dripping blood on the flag

I wonder what happened to the lives they had

And how many babies born inside their cells

How many of them will die in concrete wells

They talk about torture and the fear that it spreads

While they turn and torture immigrants the minute that they fled

Well they burn their boats and chain their throats

Drown their freedom in the sun

It seems the devil he himself

Is dressed in a holy mask

Trying to scare and please the people

With a soul who screams facade
