Sunburnt and Feelin Fine!
Mood: So Very Happy
Listening to: NFL Draft on ESPN

Hey Ya'll! How has your weekend been? Mine was very busy, but very rewarding. I couldn't be happier. The Walk - a - Thon for Child Abuse Prevention was yesterday. I did a pretty good job of organizing it all and making sure the participants didn't get confused as to which table to go to. It was really nice.

Let's see. I guess the most important thing is that we raised $ 914.19! That's right! Nine hundred fourteen dollars and nineteen cents! I couldn't be more proud! I guess it's worth the sunburn on my face. I came home and Steve said I was glowing I was so red. Mahahahh! We had a really good time. My momma made these *beautiful* certificates to give to people. We have a bunch left. We also have a lot of T-Shirts left. So, we're going to sell the T-Shirts. Im also going to see if Momma can get s'more of that paper, if TRIBE can pay for it, and print off more. Ok, Im getting ahead of myself. Let's get organized!

Yesterday there were a lot of bumps in the road. Like, the gates weren't open and we couldn't even get to the track. So, that got fixed. We got all the tables set up. Name tags on the tables. I just had a problem getting the finance person [the gal taking the donations and doing change and alla that stuff] to get there! It started at noon and at 11am she was out collecting donations! So, I called her and she got there within five minutes. Love her heart. I had one person sitting at the 'enrollment' table and she had her own forms and her own clipboard. Then the donations table is where they get their certificate and pay their money, she had her own clipboard and her own forms. Then there was the T-Shirt table and the "Chance to Win" Table. Each volunteer had their own clipboard and their own forms to fill out. We made 70.00 off of the chance to win! We made 300.00 at the door and the rest of the money came from me and a few others going out to businesses to collect donations. We did a great job though.

The local newspaper, click here to view it online, came and took pictures as well as write an article. When the woman got there that was to write the article, there weren't many people walking [as it was after 3pm and it was over at 4pm!] The picture taker woman got there right when it started and that's when we had the most people show up. My uncle Michael came, Caitlin and my momma came as well. That made me feel so happy. Steve's momma came and she brought some friends! I was so happy.

We had all kindsa pop [pepsi, diet pepsi, mountain dew] and water for free out in coolers for people to get, we had two huge fruit trays out as well as some homemade cookies out. All of that was donated to the event. Six businesses set up tables and the local Headstart place set up a face painting table for children. Cary took pictures so as soon as I get some emailed to me, I'll post them.

Since we had a lot of T-Shirts left over, Im going to do something for you guys. We're going to sell them for Five Dollars a piece. If you send me an email and let me know you want to purchase one, tell me your size. I will hold on to it. Once I receive your check, I will mail it to you. You don't have to pay for shipping [as long as you're within the United States]. I just need you to email me and say, "I want this size of shirt, here is my name and address, and I'm mailing the check or money order on this date for this amount." If you want two shirts, it'll be ten dollars. All checks and/or money orders need to be payable to TRIBE. We have sizes Large - 2XL. They're white jerzee brand tshirts. On the upper left hand corner is a circle with a band-aid through it. Over it it says "Join The Cause Stop The Pain' and then the TRIBE logo is under it. On the back it has "Child Abuse Awareness Walk - A - Thon" across the top with the date 4 - 29 - 06 under it. Then it says Sponsored by: and has 4 local businesses. One is Pepsi, Spectrum Outreach Services, Ltd, B & D Enterprises, Bartrums. That's it. All the writing is in dark purple. I will post a picture asap. We're also going to try to sell these t-shirts for five dollars at school. The money we collect is going to go to the TRIBE club so that when we do our next event, we can have more than thirty dollars in our club bank account.

Ok, I'll update more tonight. I'm on my way to the store to get stuff for supper tonight. I just wanted ya'll to know that you can buy them.
