Doing Much Better

Mood: Tired and Missing Steve
Listening to: The TV

Ok, Im back now. Im *much* more relaxed. Man I was so mad earlier. When the guys got here to do the cable, everything went wrong.  It figures. First of all, they couldnt get it to work. Then, they had to drill a new hole in the house from the outside. In order to do that, I had to call my landlord's cell phone and ask her. Man was that a big mess. Got her approval, of course because she's the best landlord ever, and they did what they needed to do. I just came in the bedroom and cried.  I just was so frustrated! When they were finished they yelled for me. They were showing me my new box, but it was like 7:30pm and I was hungry and tired. I have been working all day on the house. I've done up all of the laundry. I've cleaned everything except the bedroom. All I have to do is clean the kitty box before I go to bed. I went in there and listened to them tell me how to work everything.

Apparently, this box I have can pause live TV.  I had to know how that worked. Well, when you turn it to a channel it automatically starts recording. If you have to do something, it will pause that channel for 1 hour at the most. You can rewind it while you're watching something, too. You just can't fast forward. It also will record 2 programs at once, but you have to be watching one of the programs. You can set it to record a show every day of the week. Like, Mondays 7pm channel 45 for 1 hour. It'll do it. Then you can watch it whenever. It'll store up to 100 hours of recordings. Isn't that sweet?! I love it! It's still messed up though.  They dont have my packages on there and when I tried to call they were already closed. Gotta do that in the morning.

So, the cable guys left around 8:15pm. I got my shoes on and went to the store. Eighty dollars and an hour later, I get home. Then I make like 65 trips to and from the car carrying in these bagillions of groceries. I got them inside and the phone rang. It was Steve.  So, I talked to him for about 15 minutes then I put up the groceries. Then I came and read some blogs. I watched Psych just a bit ago. It's cute, but not something I can really get into. I think Im just tired. Tomorrow is going to be a better day. Im going to work on my papers tomorrow evening and get all of my homework done for 2 classes. Sunday evening I'll probably start reading my research on Canada's Healthcare.

So, in about 45 minutes Steve will be on his way home. I decided to just eat a bowl of cereal for supper cause Im going to make a pizza for him when he gets home. Then I'll be crawling into bed. So tomorrow this lil redneck girl isn't leaving the house! I'm going to stay in my pj's all day long! I can't wait! I hope you guys have a very relaxing weekend! I know Im going to, well other than doing homework, of course.

Angry

OH MY GOSH! I am so mad. SOOOOO MAAAD!!! GRRRR!! The cable company makes me wanna just SCREAM! So the technician was supposed  to be here between noon and 4pm. IT IS NOW 6:30PM! I have called two times. Once at 4:30 and once at 6:00pm just to see if he remembered he had to come here. Apparently I'm still on his work order and they've had some outages in my area. ALL I WANT HIM TO DO IS PLUG A FREAKING BOX IN!!!!!!!!! I have waited here all afternoon, putting everything else on hold, for this guy to come and give me that box. I swear Im beyond mad. Know what they did for me as a courtesy?! Gave me a $ 20 credit. TWENTY DOLLARS!  Two hours of my time is worth twenty dollars. HOW NICE OF THEM TO SPARE SOME CHANGE!  Since I pay over a hundred dollars PER MONTH to them! If they weren't the only provider, I'd switch in a heartbeat. We have our cable, internet, and telephone service through this company. What's really nice is when the cable modem goes out - I have no telephone. Anyway, the credit was after *I* pointed out that he was a half hour late. The second time I called she said, 'would you like to reschedule?' I said, 'no, I dont have the time to sit and wait a whole nother day for your technicians to show up.' So, I hung up on them. I was mad. Instead of going off, I chose to hang up.

OOOOOOOOOH! Just now, at 6:32pm the technician called me to tell me he's on his way. I went off. He said he had a couple hard jobs today and blah blah blah and I asked why they scheduled em so close together and stuff. Anyway - he's on his way and thats what matters. However, around 6pm I called mom to see if she would come here and sit and wait on this idiot and she said she would. NOW I can't get ahold of her. She didnt answer her cell phone and she's not answering her home phone.  CAN THIS DAY GET BETTER FOR ME, PLEASE?! Im ready to scream. OH and get this. He has no idea  about the outages. NONE. He said, 'I've had some really tough jobs today.'  So then I said, "Is there not a policy of some sort when you're over 2 hours late you have to call into the call center and let someone know to tell the people on your worklist that you are late but you will still show up?!" The answer I got was a simple, very hillbilly-ish, 'No ma'am.'   *SIGH* I couldn't be mean to him anymore. He apologized, and that's all he can do. I understand. He's having to work over and its bad for him, too. So BLAH.

I still have to go to the store. I have nothing to cook for supper so I'm starving. Im just so frustrated. Now, when mom gets here Im going to have to tell her to go on back home. *SIGH* THAT is why I hate calling someone for help. HATE IT WITH ALL OF MY GUTS! I hate asking someone to do something for me like this because A) I have to explain everything that's going on and what I have and haven't done, B) I have to answer a bazillion questions, and C) It normally works out AFTER I've made other arrangements!

That's all for now. Im so mad. Oh, the weather matches my mood! It's storming, thundering, lightning - the works. LOVE IT! I get to go GROCERY SHOPPING in this! YAY!!

Mom just showed up. I told her what all happened so she and my step dad are off to have supper. See... now I feel bad. Ugh. Time to go sit in the living room and wait s'more. Hope your Friday is better than mine so far!

I guess I should just be thankful that I can even get cable, cable internet, telephone, and the upgrade to the DVR box and stuff. It's just so hard to see the humbleness stuff when you're so frustrated and so angry you just want to scream, and alas - all that are here to listen are my kitties. At least they meow with me.

ok theyre here gotta go

Waitin On The Cable Guy

Mood: Waitin
Listening to: Nothin

Hey guys! Today is Friday and it has been very relaxing. It's real dreary, rainy, grey, but still 77 degrees outside. Just one of those days where you wanna stay in bed and do absolutely nothing! Steve just left for work so here I am! Mhahaha! I've not been super productive today as far as doing things, but I did talk to Teri online for a while!  That made me happy. Tonight I dont have much planned. Im waiting on the cable guy to come and install the DVR box, which he should be here in a bit. He had from Noon - 4pm and it's 3:35pm right now. I called and they said I was his next job. Mahahah! Made me sound kinda.. yanno. So anyway, just waiting on him to come and put that in then I'm headed to my grandparents for about an hour.  Just gonna see what they're into and how they're doin. Then, it's off to the grocery store. They have a deal goin on where you can get 5 packages of meat [any meat from pork chops, chicken, chicken patties, hamburger meat, bacon, sausage, etc.] for $ 20. They have that deal all the time and I LOVE IT! Gotta get some milk, too. Then, I'll be back home. Gonna watch my new digital cable and just veg tonight. I'm gonna make dinner and I'll probably go ahead and eat! I'll make Steve a plate then put the leftovers up. Then I've gotta clean up. That's about it! Working on laundry as we speak. Washing a load of towels. Ya'll need to remind me in September to buy some more freaking towels!  Sheesh! I hope you guys are having a good Friday and I hope your weekend is just plain ol relaxing! I'll probably update later once I get everything done. Gonna read some tonight and do my papers for my law class by tomorrow night.  That's how academic over achievers spend their Saturday nights - doing papers to make sure they get an A.

Wrapping Up Another Day

Mood: Tired, now
Listening to: Steve snoring, Otis purring, and Milo making his bed on my pillows!

Hey guys. So it's been one extremely long day!  Sheesh! It almost feels like two days in one. The only reason Im not in bed right now is because I have a headache the size of Texas and I tried to lay down and sleep...but my head kept thumping. So, I got up and took some Excedrin and figured I'd write a bit then try to lay back down. Steve is already asleep. Love his heart.

So this morning Steve and I got up at 8am and had breakfast with Cory, Uncle Michael, Heather, Curtis, Mawmaw, and Pawpaw.  It was fun. I just had a bagillion things on my mind that I had to get done today. So, I was kinda quiet. Plus, it was so early and I had only had 6 hours of sleep. I did tell heather and curtis [who are in from hawaii to visit before Curtis gets deployed to Iraq] that they need to come over. They, naturally, are visiting a bagillion people this week, as they came in this past Saturday. They're flying back at noon on August 4th,   which just happens to be my birthday! Heather did tell me that she and Curtis will come down for a bit before they go. Anyway - the breakfast went ok. Mawmaw and pawpaw laughed a lot - that's what matters to me.

I came home this afternoon and watched some TV. Then, I got online and talked to Teri for a bit.  I hope I didnt hurt her feelings or make her feel uncomfortable. When someone I love is in turmoil, emotionally or mentally, the counselor in me comes out and I just try my best to help them. She probably just needed a friend and someone to just listen, but instead I have to turn in to Ms. WannaBeCounselor and try to help her fix her problems. Ugh! Im sorry, Teri! I just have had 2 years of classes to train me how to ask questions, what to ask, and alla that jazz. I need to learn when to turn it on and turn it off.  I'll do better next time. I will work on it.

After I talked to Teri, I laid down for a bit. I slept for about an hour. I called momma and talked to her for a few minutes then Steve got dressed to go to work. He left around 3pm and then I got online and updated my blog. While I was updating my uncle messaged me and we talked for about 10 minutes or so. When I finished talking to him, I got dressed and called Amanda to tell her I was on my way to pick her up.

Amanda and I got to the school and she went on up to the computer lab. I went up to the faculty office to pick up a form I need to fill out.   Took it over to my stepdad and he filled out his part.  That is so sweet of him. Because he fills out the form for me, my tuition is waived. Because of him doing that, Im able to live out on my own and have the luxury of not having to work while in college. Therefore, I have no excuse to not make the deans list, right?! OH! Speaking of which, I got a letter from my school, the main campus in Athens, congratulating me on making the Dean's List for Spring quarter. That was nice of them. It also stated that they are no longer making certificates for those that make the Dean's List, however, they will send out a formal letter with the Ohio University Letterhead. They said postage was too expensive. Ok, so this confuses me. Why can they pay postage to send a letter, but not to send a certificate when they cost the same to mail? OH well! Doesn't matter. Gonna put this letter up in my envelope and keep it to impress all of my future employers!

Ok, back to my day! Sorry, got sidetracked! So, my stepdad fills it out for me then I head to the computer lab. I type up the paper that was due in tonight's class. Took me 30 minutes to do it. Wasn't too bad! When I got it done, I printed it off. Then, I printed off a copy of my fall schedule. I had like an hour to kill before my class started at 6pm, so Amanda and I did her powerpoint presentation for her speech. She's in public speaking and this is her first speaking class. She's never done a powerpoint, so I did her first one, showing her how to do it. It is really neat! If you email me and want to see it, I'll send it back to you as an attachment. It's not all fancy though, just simple. I helped her pick her topic for her first speech, which is the informative speech. I showed her how to outline her speech to get it organized. She showed her professor, who was naturally impressed. He loves her topic. Maybe you guys have seen it. On yahoo! the other day [Monday, I believe], there was an article that says a town in Rhode Island [I think] is coming out with a new form of Monopoly. They're doing away with the money and there will be credit cards and they even have the visa logo!  Oh I know! Crazy isn't it?! So, Amanda is doing her speech on "The Life of Monopoly: The Past, The Present, The Future." I helped her pick that topic. I knew her professor would love it, as I've had him for speech before.

So, we did her powerpoint then it was time for class. I went to class and we went over the first two chapters. I was really nervous because I've never had a law class before, and here I sit in a 300 level [junior level] law class! I had to present with a panel [4 other people] the first two chapters and I felt like I knew absolutely nothing. I'm so lost in there. Im taking notes, and Im keeping up... I just feel like the material is a bit over my head. I have to go back and look up words, especially the Latin words, and figure out what all of the legal terms mean and stuff. It's extra work, but if I do well, it's going to relfect greatly on me as a student. So, when it came my turn to speak, which I was totally nervous about for the first time EVER, I just took a deep breath and looked right at my professor [a judge in my town] and said, 'This is my first law class and to be honest, I have no idea what all of you are talking about half of the time. My paper isn't like these other ladies' papers, mine is more of a research type paper.' He looked at me and said, 'Are you learning anything?' I said, "Absolutely. I did my paper on Negligence. I've learned the different types of negligence, the different ways lawsuits are filed, what it takes to file malpractice lawsuits, etc." After 5 minutes I finally quit talking and everyone just stared at me. Judge said, "Shelly, is it?" I nodded. He said, "The only thing I want anyone to get out of this entire class is knowledge. Your paper isn't your opinion on the legal system, or the medical legal system, or anything like that. Your paper shows that you've done research, you've looked at different cases, you read your chapters, and you've done what I asked everyone to do. Yes, you're supposed to tell your opinion in the paper, but you're also supposed to show that you've learned something. Good job." I just smiled and said, "Thank You, Judge." So, the moral of the story is: Just do your best, follow your gut feeling [or instincts], and be honest with everyone.

We didn't get out of class until 9:15, which was 5 minutes earlier than the class was supposed to let out. MAN that sucks. Sometimes we get out like an hour early. THAT would be sweet! Anyway - Amanda's husband ended up out in the parking lot waiting on her, so I just went back in and told her, then I left. I came home and fixed me something to eat, as I hadn't eaten since breakfast [which could explain the headache tonight!]. I ate and watched So You Think You Can Dance? They were voting people off tonight. If that tour comes around here, Im *SO* going! I love it! That went off at 10pm and then Steve and I watched Scary Movie 3. That's hilarious!  Scary Movie 4 is hilarious too! Mahahaha! I love those shows. You don't have to think or figure things out. You just laugh. Don't get me wrong, I love a good psychological thriller, but not tonight. Not after a long stressful day! So that went off at like midnight-ish and then we came to bed. Steve laid down and was asleep within five minutes. I, however, couldn't sleep because all I could think about was the pounding of my head. Even Milo and Otis are sleeping! I got up, took some Excedrin and here I am!

Tomorrow I just plan on doing a whole lot of cleaning. Going to get the living room, dining room, kitchen area cleaned before noon as the cable guy is going to come and install digital cable. Angel: you're gonna be so jealous. I'm gonna get the GSN! GSN is Game Show Network for those of you who lack the gangsta lingo, or as Dr. Evil would say "Those of you that don't spreckiddy the same ling-giddy."  Im also going to be getting NFL Ticket. Muwahaha! That includes: Inside the NFL! YEAH! I can't wait for football season, guys! The digital cable that they're installing is the DVR box. That is basically a form of TIVO that is offered through my cable company. SO, on those long nights at school, I can record the new shows this fall and watch em when I get home or whatever! Im so excited! The DVR box is $ 8.00/month and the digital cable fee is like $ 3.00/month. So, for like $ 11.00/month more I get alla that! *cheer* We so need to get our big screen tv fixed, especially for football season! We will probably be doing that with Steve's first paycheck. He has his first day of work tomorrow night. He's not working the midnight - 8am schedule, he's working 4pm - midnight. So, at least he'll be home by 12:30. That's good. I like it better.

This weekend Im going to try my best to get 2 of my papers due next week out of the way so I can focus on my ginormous research paper about Canada's Healthcare. Ive got all of the information, I just have to read it and type it up. Shouldn't be too bad, honestly. There's tons of information about it. I have a midterm coming up on August 7th, which I'll be prepared for. Man, when I heard all of these papers are going to be due, I got so overwhelmed!   I thought, there's no way on EARTH I'll be able to do 2 papers per week, a discussion panel every other week, a 10 minute presentation about Canada's Healthcare System, a 10 page paper on Canada's Healthcare System, a midterm, 2 finals, and another 5 page paper answering 3 questions that the Judge gave us... in 5 weeks time. Well, I have 4 weeks left, now. So, Im hoping by week 3, which is August 7 - August 11th, I hope to get the 10 page paper at least halfway completed, if not all the way completed and turned in. Why? Because if we turn it in early, Dr. Rau will give it back to us and let us make any changes that we messed up on  before he records the final grade. That's his way of encouraging us to do it ASAP so he doesnt have to grade em all at the last minute. So, being that theres a midterm on that Monday and I wont have any homework, other than to study, over the weekend of the 5th and 6th [my birthday weekend], I hope to get it completed. MAN that would take a TON off of my mind!

We'll see. I've got to push myself. I took all of my hard classes this summer. This fall, I have Accounting, Death and Dying, and 3 business classes [to get a certification in Human Resources]. I'm doing that certification clump of classes so I can bypass the minor in psychology. Sneaky, I know. Tee-Hee! Well, guys, Im finally getting tired.  I've rambled on for like 30 minutes! I know you're probably tired of reading, so Im gonna stop here. I'll be home all day tomorrow. Well, I might run to the store during the afternoon, other than that, I'll be home. So, if any of you on my yahoo messenger aren't busy, send me a message. Sometimes I don't see ya'll log on so I never know if you're on or not. If I'm not at my computer, I normally put where I am or what I'm doing. So, yeah. Enjoy your Friday! I know Im going to!!
