The Road Not Taken
by Robert Frost

Two Roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!

Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

b-a-n-a-n-a-s!

Mood: Hungry for breakfast!
Listening to: Holla Back Girl by Gwen Stefani

Good morning, ya'll. Honestly, I dont have much to write about. I did get some good news yesterday and Im hoping to get more good news today. That would just top off my week. We'll see though. The only real plans I have for today is to spend the day at my grandparents. Caitlin is going to be there and I think it helps mawmaw just to have someone else there with her while she's there. We'll probably be playing dominoes, cards, and whatever else. That's ok though. Makes the time pass by.

I've gotta spend the morning on the phone, again, because Im not getting the emails from my school that I should be getting. Im finally tired of all of this. It's been over a month now. They need to get the crap together. So, I'll be doin that this morning before I go down to my grandparents. Well, the good news that I got yesterday is that I can graduate in one year with my 4 year degree. I'll have a minor in business as well as my associates degree and 2 certifications. Im excited to start working and making some money.

Speaking of jobs, I put in my resume for a student ambassador position. I really hope I get it. It'll be 20 hours a week and it's a campus job. What they do is basically outreach stuff. For instance, at the local fairs and stuff, my school sets up an information table to try to recruit people. Student ambassadors work the table. During freshman orientations, student ambassadors work. They're just heavily involved on campus. I really hope I get it. This might open doors for me. One of my friends, Melanie, got one of the positions. Im happy for her. The only reason I turned in my resume is because the directors assistant called and asked me to. So, I did that yesterday.

I mainly spent the evening with Steve last night. We just hung out. He ran to his parents house while I was in the shower. He got back like 45 minutes or so after I had gotten out. We watched "So You Think You Can Dance?" and it was the elmination night. Im really startin to like that show. Fox is coming up with some awesome shows for this fall! I can't wait! There was one that I am excited to see. Cant remember the name of it! Mahaha!

Well, I've rambled on long enough. I hope ya'll have had a great week and antcipate an awesome weekend. For my Canadian friends - Happy Canada Day. I guess that's what you're supposed to say. Mahah! I think Canada Day is July 1st? Im not real sure. Anyway - I'll be around til about 8am, if any of ya'll wanna hit me up on yahoo messenger. Then I'll be heading to my grandparents house and prolly wont be back til like 6pm. If I don't talk to you, enjoy your friday!

xoxo

I'll go hillbilly on them!

Mood: Hungry
Listening to: Staind

Grr! I had this ginormous entry written, then all of a sudden yahoo messenger asked me to update to the newest version and completely closed out my blog before I could hit submit. Oh well! I'll just have to write it again. I won't let the man get me down! Mahaha! I love Empire Records. GREAT movie! So anyway, I hope ya'll have had a good week. My week has been ok. I finally, today, got my money situated from my school. It's taken me since June 22nd to get it all fixed. So, I did the last step that I have to do to get my money deposited, now it's just a matter of time before it's put into my account. It's going to take as long as all of the electronic-ness does its thing. Best not take too long. I'll just have to keep goin off on them. I think I've been rather patient. They've screwed up twice and I've just said, 'thats ok. can you fix it?' So, they dont wanna see the other side of me. I promise. I'll go hillbilly on them!

So today I have a meeting at 12:30 with a director of a certain program Im thinking about. It's a bachelors degree. I know, I keep changing my mind. This one is nice because I need 12 classes to complete it and by the end of fall [before Thanksgiving] I'll have 5 of those classes completed. That's a lot. So that leaves 7 classes and there's so many options that it might only take me a little less than a year to complete. If that's the case, I can go on to Marshall University or ACTC and get my masters degree. That would be supersweet! After I leave that appointment, Im going to go down to my grandparents house for awhile and hang out. Probably for most of the afternoon/evening. I'll probably be home around 6 or 7. I miss them, terribly. When I was there the other day, had to leave early because they had doctors appointments.

Well, Im planning a surprise something for my momma. I've already told her she needs to plan to take at least 2 days off of work in October. I know you're readin this momma, and all Im goin to tell you is that it will be just me and you. I know she's going to love it. It's something she's always wanted to do. Im also really excited about going to the beach. We're leaving one week from this coming Sunday. Well, we're gonna leave at like 3am on Monday morning, so technically it will be monday. I can't wait, though. It's going to be so much fun. I've got tickets for that casino cruise during the day. Im lookin forward to that. I just have to remember to pack a few towels this time. Apparently the hotels on.the.beach. don't realize that they're on the beach and that they have inground and sometimes heated pools. I say this because they get stingy with the towels! Sheesh! and the towels are normally the size of washcloths anyway. It's so stupid. Don't they know that us curvy women need a towel that's bigger than a dishtowel?! Idiots. Anyway - Im going to pack my own and thats that.

Well, my belly is growlin cause I've not had breakfast yet, so I think im going to end this here and make me somethin to eat. The Summer Motion is this upcoming week and Steve and I are going to go see SheDaisy on July 4th and watch the fireworks. It's on the river bank [the ohio river, if you're wondering] and it's in Kentucky. Yes, that's how close I am to Kentucky and West Virginia. I literally drive past the Kentucky bridge when I go to school. Kinda gives ya'll a geography lesson! Mahahah! I hate geography. I just wanted to thank those of you that did the Hillbilly Challenge yesterday. Those things really let me get to know you guys and I hope they do the same for you. It's really sweet that you guys do that for me and I appreciate it. So now you can expect a hillbilly challenge every hump day. Gives you somethin to look forward to during the first two days of the week. Mahahah! You guys have an awesome day. xoxoxo

Mood: Happy
Listening to: Steve snoring! Mahahah!

So, I kinda revamped the place to look more summa time-ish! I hope ya'll like it. It's a bit much at first, as we're all used to the black background and stuff. We'll get used to it, right? My School Is Famous!

Mood: Awake
Listening to: Nothin cause Steve is still asleep! Mahah!

Hey guys! I slept pretty much all day yesterday, with the exception of like 7 hours or so, so needless to say Im awake. Hopefully this is getting my sleep patterns back in track, now that I have a somewhat peace of mind. I also hope that my headache doesnt come back! that was awful! I couldn't eat, couldn't talk, didnt want the lights on...just slept. Managed to get up for like 4 hours to call momma and tell her I wasn't gonna be able to make it to my grandparents house yesterday evening. Gonna make up for it tonight though. Gonna go down and spend the afternoon with my grandparents then figure out where momma is going to be tonight and visit her for a bit. I miss her. I also gotta run up to my school and fill out some forms, and am gonna *finally* get Cory's financial aid finished. Hopefully I can get in to talk to Janet. That's my plans for the day! Mahaha!

So, Ok. I know you're wondering why I named this entry "My School is Famous!" and I'll tell you why right now. Recently, one of my professors [Dr. Lucas] did some research and found a cemetary! I know that doesnt sound like big news, but it is an old cemetary dating waaaaaay back that no one had any idea that it was out here. My school does tons of field research and no one knows about it...until now. So, here is the copy of the transcript where my school, Dr. Lucas, a student and our local news guy, Tim Irr, was on CNN!!

PHILLIPS: Well, the assignment was simple. Go talk to people, find out who they are, where they come from. Professor Dave Lucas calls it folknography. What happened next changed history as one town knew it when student at Ohio University Southern unearthed some of their community's missing roots.

Reporter Tim Irr of CNN affiliate WSAZ picks up the story from there. (BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

PROF. DAVID LUCAS, OHIO UNIVERSITY SOUTHERN: And then 1918, as the boys came home from the war, they came from the European theater and brought that flu. And 1,700 people died in southern Ohio alone. And some of them that died were those African-American mining families down over the ridge here.

TIM IRR, WSAZ REPORTER (voice-over): It began as a research project and turned into an archaeological dig. Dr. David Lucas, a communications professor at Ohio University Southern in Ironton, asked his students to simply go out and talk to people along Porter Gap Road (ph), gather their stories of life, family and local history, a process known as folknography.

LUCAS: We were finding out about faith in Appalachia, the idea of family, the idea of food and food ways. Those are all the questions that we asked. But as we talk to these folk out there, especially on Porter Gap, they kept talking about this lost cemetery.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: There's that iron spike that Dr. Lucas was talking about where they stopped excavating.

IRR: Over the course of the year, the stories led the students to a remote hillside of Porter Gap, but as their videotaped exploration clearly shows, any signs or evidence of a century-old cemetery were long gone.

LUCAS: We're not real sure where it could be, so it's the proverbial needle in the haystack.

IRR: Finally, last month, after getting a grant to bring in a surveyor and using sonar to test the earth, the burial ground of ten adults and two infants was found. A hand-carved grave marker was the physical evidence above ground that rounded out the discovery.

LUCAS: That's exactly what that is. Look at that. I want to you look.

IRR: Since then, Dr. Lucas and this students invited the community to a memorial service nearly 100 years overdue.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Hand-etched on this stone is the word "Mills."

REV. DOUGLAS CARTER, BURLINGTON FIRST BAPTIST: And we pray, God, that you might commemorate, that you might bless, the hands that have touched this stone. Thank you for the open hearts that took time to search it out and dig it.

IRR: Stories are now surfacing of other such lost cemeteries. Several people in attendance had testimonials of their own.

JOANN SUDDERTH, IRONTON: It is somewhere near, lake Vesuvius (ph). I'm pretty sure that it was in that area. Because we were all over the place. But I do specifically remember that one and that they said that it was miners that had died.

MICHELLE WELLMAN, OHIO UNIV. SOUTHERN STUDENT: I am really excited because so many people came out and said, there's another one. And there's -- I've heard of another one. Just during the question and answers. It's exciting.

LUCAS: It seems like a simple thing to mark this cemetery. It's a shame that it was lost, but I'm glad we found it.

Early to bed, early to rise!

Mood: Awake and Hungry!
Listening to: The shower just stopped, but that's what I was listening to! Mahah!

Hey guys! Good morning! It's like 4:30 in the morning and Im awake! Probably because I went to bed at like 9pm last night. I was exhausted. Not a whole lot has been going on in my lil home lately. My uncle and my momma are out of town so I've been tryin to spend time with my grandparents. After Steve and I eat breakfast and clean up and I get a shower, I'll probably go spend the day with them or something. So, it's finally Saturday! I hope you guys had a great week and here's to a great weekend! Let's see, what all has happened since I updated last.

Well, on Thursday I went to my grandparents house and spent most of my day there. Got home and Steve and I made supper. Cleaned up the kitchen then just messed around on the computer. Talked to some people online, on the phone, and basically just relaxed. It was a good day. Friday, yesterday, I got Corys financial aid straightened out FINALLY. I think I'll be able to go to the library and do it, seeing as to how we dont have a computer here. Although, i might take cory up to the computer lab at school so he can become familiar with it when I do his financial aid and stuff. Then, we can turn it in after we're done, along with his application! What a good idea! So that's something that's going to happen some time this upcoming week, when he has a day off. I finally got my financial aid straightened out. Should see something happening next week. Next week is gonna be a big week!

Yesterday, I also called Teri! I can call Canada for like 10 cents a minute. That is so cheap! I love it. So we talked for like half an hour. Now Im going to be calling her probably twice a week! Mahah! She sounded so happy on the phone. We laughed a lot. She's so great. I just love her to pieces! I get free long distance to call anywhere within the United States, too! I love that! I pay 30.00/month for my phone. I get free unlimited long distance, caller ID, call waiting, call forwarding. It's through the company that does my internet and my cable. So, it's all on one bill. I love that!

Steve and I just woke up. Im like W-I-D-E awake. Slept alright, could've been a bit better dreams. Im sick of dreaming that someone dies. I need to get a book of dreams to explain why Im constantly dreaming people I love are dying. Anyone have any idea? Last night, someone I love died in the ocean and the fish were so vivid and detailed. Sometimes I dream Im falling and right before I hit the bottom I jerk really hard and it scares me and Steve both. Mahah! I do that a lot. Maybe I'm just wierd, I dunno. Do any of ya'll know what these dreams mean? The other night I dreamt spiders were all over me. I woke up and had to take a shower in the middle of the night. I hate those kindsa dreams! Hrm, My belly is growling. I think Im going to make some scrambled eggs and toast for breakfast. We were gonna have pancakes, but Im tired of those. So, we'll have eggs. Im going to make some brownies today, too. No, Angel, not the 'special' brownies! Mahahaha! Im just teasin!

Im really looking forward to going to the beach. Mahahh! This picture reminds me that we're going to the beach, if you're wondering where that came from. It's going to be so much fun. Especially for my momma. She's not been to a beach since she was 18 years old. I hope she just kinda lets loose and just relaxes. I have some places picked out that I want to take Momma and Cory to eat. I want to take them to Hard Rock Cafe [as momma has never been there to eat and neither have I!], Cheeseburgers In Paradise [this place is amazing! if you ever are near one, please eat there. their burgers are to die for! i love them! they have the best marguritas, too!], Liberty Steakhouse OR The Green Frog [these places are near Broadway at the Beach, which is where we will be shopping, so we'll eat there the day we go shopping], and Marguriataville. I know I spelled that all kindsa wrong, but I dont care. It's 20 til 5 in the morning! Mahah!

Im sure you guys are thinking that I should shut up now. I've rambled on for hours. I know! I need to get cooking anyway. I already have a game picked out for next week, so get your thinking caps on. In all of the games, we'll always use every letter of the alphabet. I think that makes it even more difficult. What sucks is, I have to go first. Mahahha! That's ok. Im a genius! RIiiiIiIiiIIght! Ok, Im stalling. Gonna go make some breakfast. I'll probably be updating a little later today, as this is going to be a long day! I hope ya'll have a relaxing weekend! Jackie: Im thinkin of you sweetie!

Beaches, Tattoo, and Friends!

Mood: Peachy Keen!
Listening to: That 70's Show on TV. =)

Hey guys! Finally a real update, right? I know it's been driving you insane. mahahah! This week has been pretty uneventful. I've just been hanging out. I got two graduation gifts this week. So very thoughtful. I really appreciate them! Sometimes life can be such a roller coaster ride, I swear. It's amazing how much the human mind can handle all at once. You've got thoughts going constantly, emotions flying everywhere, and yet you can still [for the most part] focus on what you absolutely have to do right at a particular point in time. I think right now is crazy for a lot of people. Im just thankful that I have friends that I can trust and talk to. So very thankful.

So, graduation gifts. My grandparents gave me one hundred dollars! That was so sweet of them. My mother got me the most amazing music box. It's absolutely beautiful. I cherish it. It plays "You Light Up My Life" and has this amazingly beautiful picture on the top. The box itself is made of a dark wood and has this gentle design in the wood around the edges. In the center there's a place for a photo. In that place it has a picture. The picture is of a white background and has very delicate butterflies and a few delicate flowers on it. It has the most amazing saying, to which I'll keep to myself because it's from momma's heart to mine. It just really meant a whole to me. I couldn't thank her enough.

In exactly 17 days Steve, Momma, Cory, and myself are leaving for Myrtle beach. We're staying at the Bermuda Sands Hotel. It's going to be lovely. Im so excited. I have two tickets to go on a casino cruise. Can't wait for that! While we're there, im going to get a tattoo, ya'll! That's right, Im going to do it! It's going to be a little bigger than a quarter. Im getting a celtic love knot. Im getting a specific design though. Here's a picture of what I want, except where it is silver, I want it red and where the gold is, I want it black. It's going to be so pretty. Im going to either get it on the back of one of my shoulders or right in the center of my back just above my bra line. I think it is rather beautiful, myself.

When we get back from the beach, I've got to get a TV Repairman to come and look at our big screen TV. I've also gotta get the cable people out here because Im going to upgrade! That's right! Im going to get the digital cable AND I'm going to get some movie channels. We're at the place where we can afford it and Im glad. Basic cable gets boring. Mahahha! I'm also going to hit a few yard sales to get some stuff for the house. My ultimate finds would be: a bakers rack, DVD holders, DVD Player + Remote, Maybe some DVD's, Book Shelves, a pantry type thing, and 2 lamps. Now, I know I won't find all of this. With all of the hillbilly types around here, though, you never know what you're going to find at a yard sale! Mahahah!

Steve and I have been talking about building our own home when I graduate. I think it would be great. We pretty much have an idea of what we want. I've also talked to some students at school who used to be former general contractors and they've suggested a time of year, the type of layout, and what to use for cheap supplies. My daddy is going to save me a lot of money. The contractors said that the biggest cost of building a home is getting the land approved, flattened, the water and sewer lines dug, the foundation and the driveway. My daddy can do all of that. So, our biggest cost is going to be the electrician and plumber. Oh, and the interior, naturally. I watch HGTV constantly. My goal for the next 6 years is to have a really good paying job to be financially secure, and hopefully be living in a home I designed and had built. I keep going back and forth from moving away when I graduate to staying here and building a home. Who knows what's going to happen. I guess we'll just see how my cards play out.

Tomorrow I've got a couple of errands to run and Im going to go visit my grandparents for a majority of the afternoon/evening. I've been trying to get Cory's financial aid straightened out, but I keep running into road blocks. Been working on it for a week. Tonight, I finally just gave up. Friday, Im going to take everything I have to my academic advisor [because I have to pick up some paperwork for a meeting I have at 2pm], and Im going to have them work on it. Bless his heart, I feel like Im holding him up and that's the last thing I want to do. So hopefully by the middle of next week, he'll have everything turned in and then we can wait on the school to do their part of it! Mahah!

This weekend is going to be quiet around here. We don't really have any plans. Next week is going to be busy for me, so I've been soaking up the fact that I have nothing to do. Infact, I've stayed in my pj's all day! It's been a long time since I've done that! Well, I think I've rambled on long enough. I've talked to my friends online all day! It's been great. I talked to Teri for the longest time. OH! I called, Teri, and found out how much it would be. Not gonna be expensive at all... so I'll be calling you tomorrow or Friday. Just let me know when the best time would be. I dont wanna freak out your momma and I also dont wanna call in the middle of supper or anything. I talked to my friend Lori online. I was worried about her! I hadn't heard from her all week. She had went home to visit her pappy in Indiana. I also talked to my gangsta sista, Jackie. She has so much on her, guys. I wish I could take just 1/4 of her problems and eliminate them in the best possible way...ever. For the rest of ya'll, I hope your week is going ok. I'm sure I'll be updating tomorrow with some sort of survey/quesiton/game thingy! Mahahah!

There's also Zoolander but I didnt like it a lot. I'll take Antonio Banderes in a mask defending my life before I'll take whatshishead as a runway model. Mahah! Speaking of movies... Steve and I watched a really good movie. It's called "Cry Wolf" [might have an 'e' at the end of wolf, not sure]. If you like psychological thrillers [like I do], then you'll love it. It's an older movie, I think. You can visit good ol imdb.com and search for it. I'm sure they'll have something up there bout it. Well, I think Im going to get off of here and call my momma. Then Im going to watch some CSI. It is so hot here and its so hot inside this house. UGH! All I want to do is sleep! Angel, I got something I need to mail you. Can you email me your new address? it'll be next week before I get it out to you, so take your time.

Enough is Enough.

Mood: Kinda blah
Listening to: Kathy Griffin's show on TV. I love her!

So I've been having someone send me messages on yahoo messenger. I've put them on my ignore list now. Last night was enough. It's been happening for the past 3 days. I'm just sick of it. I'll post the last message they sent me. I dont know if it is one person, female, male, etc. I have no idea. I just know that it's frustrating. This morning I was in bed and Steve happened to see them message me so he messaged them back. here was the conversation, then steve put them on ignore. I wrote the first message at like 3:30am. Then, Steve replied about 5 something this morning.

Shelly (6/20/2006 3:21:03 AM): im going to block you. feel free to email me if you wish to call me names any longer after this.
xxquarantinedxx (6/20/2006 5:19:27 AM): fuck off you stupid bitch. all you ever do is feel sorry for yourself and how pathetic your life is. pay some interest to those around you, you selfish whore
Shelly (6/20/2006 5:20:14 AM): wow you even know who you're talking to?
Shelly (6/20/2006 5:21:18 AM): obviously not
Shelly (6/20/2006 5:21:54 AM): I'll pretend you didnt send this message to my woman
Shelly (6/20/2006 5:22:19 AM): so that my foot doesnt have to send a message to your ass.

ROFL! Steve had enough of it!

Anyway, today is a better day, so far. I just wish it was July 10th. I would be on my way to the beach. I would be away from here. I think this area just depresses me sometimes. There's not much to do around here at all. Am still thinking about moving away. We'll see when I graduate. Gonna post my resume online and see what comes up. Would love to live near water. Any suggestions?

I hope you guys are having a great week. Angel, you crack me up. Im gonna go, my momma is comin over for a bit. I'll update later tonight.

Just stuff

Mood: Annoyed, Sad, Hurt, and Angry.
Listening to: The dishes not being done by me because im on the computer.

Well, today was a bad day. Im not going to gripe and moan. It was just one thing right after another. Sometimes I feel my life is stagnant, even though Im constantly doing things. There's just so much I wish I could write, but I just don't have the drive to do so right now. I wish there was a way to just completely remove people from my life that bring nothing but negativity. I wish I didn't have to worry about some of the things that I do worry about. I wish that I would be able to just let some things go and wipe my hands clean of the situation. Im trying, but it is hard. I dont know why I feel responsible for the choices that some of my friends make. I also don't know why they get mad at me when Im asked my opinion and it doesnt agree with theirs. I guess the way I talk to people and my forwardness comes off as being too harsh or too mean. Maybe it's me. Maybe I need to change. Maybe I need to be less forward with my thoughts and feelings and more to myself with things. Maybe I need to just put on the fake emotions and work really hard at numbing my facial expressions. I wish that people wouldn't say, "oh, that's just shelly for ya" or "we'll overlook it because it's shelly." I hate that. Don't dismiss me. If you dont agree with what Im saying or doing, tell me. Maybe Im crazy to think if I treat people a certain way, that's how they'll treat me in return. I dont know much anymore.

Today, a lot of things have went wrong. One right after another. When I mean wrong, I mean it all just kinda bombarded me at once. Various things. Some things were completely unrelated, others werent. All day I've found myself crying at the drop of hat. Im not normally like this, either. My emotions are like a roller coaster ride right now and I just do not know where the stop or panic button is. All I want to do is sleep. Everything is getting on my nerves and rather quickly. I feel so sorry for Steve. He's had to put up with a lot today. I've tried to just keep quiet and he keeps making jokes and probably feels rather idiotic when I don't laugh. I need to get out of this funk. I need to just accept the things I can not change and change the things that I can.

Well, I figured I'd post some pictures of my favorite things. I dont know why, though. Probably because they make me smile. Teri: Thanks for the talk earlier. I needed someone to talk to and you were there for me. I appreciate it.
