Sound Words for Pilgrims

Hearts Full of His Love

Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.    1 Jn. 2:15

Some feel that by abusing the body, they can gain victory over the lusts that torment them. They may fast, go without sleep, or even punish themselves physically through an arduous pilgrimage. But if one could drive out these lusts in this way, their heart would still be empty. Satan would return with a vengeance. John says that the way to drive out these enslaving lusts is to let the love of God fill your heart. Open your heart to the Lord; receive Christ as your Lord and Saviour. God’s love for you will enrapture your heart and these other besetting burdens will be driven out.

O God, renew us in Thy love today, for our tomorrow we have not a care,
Who blessed us yesterday will meet us there.              --Amy Carmichael
