Gleaning Spiritual Provisions

Let me now go to the field, and glean ears of corn…So she gleaned in the field until even.    Ruth 2:2, 17
Where hast thou gleaned today?    Ruth 2:19

There was a provision under the law, to allow needy strangers, orphans and widows to go into the fields after harvest and gather the gleanings for their sustenance. This made them beneficiaries of the gracious provision of the Lord. We all fall into the classification of needy people. Everything that we have, whether physical or spiritual is graciously provided by the mercy and grace of God. Lord help me to accept the lowly status of a needy gleaner, that I may enjoy the bountiful banquet You have invited me to enjoy.

O the deep deep love of Jesus! ‘Twould take ages to explore,
But a drop of all this ocean or a grain from off its shore.
