The National Recording Registry...

I didn't even know that something like this existed.  This Registry is like a hall-of-fame of noteworthy songs, speeches, etc., which are put throught a special preservation.  The latest additions include: Astronaut Neil Armstron's first words on the Moon, speeches of President Wilson and General Douglas MacArthur, and songs by Al Jolson, Muddy Waters, and Nirvana. Pretty random.
