Happy New Year!!
Has everyone recovered from the long holiday season of 2004? Had a great Christmahanakwanzakamadan? As the first official work week of the new year rolls through, Midnight Society gets back into the swing of things as we continue to work on our newest projects for the clubs, approaching the Winter Music Conference in March.
Knob Records has been making some noise in the underground with their latest single “So Bad” by DJ Style. The single has been impressing the folks at Evolution & Balance Record Pool and is getting support from the likes of Satoshi Tomiie, Stephan Grondin, Giles Massichote, Jonathan Odeja, Jackie Christie, Funky Junction and Andy Jusef from Satellite & Tweek’d Records. This progressive breakbeat single which features the hot & heavy tribal/progressive madness of Midnight Society’s Curtis Atchison and DJ/Producer Rick Corbo on the flip is now available in stores.
The sixth installment to the long running circuit house CD series from DJ David Knapp continues in the tradition of big beats, vocal anthems and circuit energy. This new compilation, released in stores in December, features the infamous Eternal Futuretribe remix to the hit “Forever” by Rob Mirage and vocalist Pleasant Russell. The original was a big success for Loop 128 Records in Portugal, and has been one of the premiere downloads on digital download sites such as Beatport. Both the original single (as well as the two Midnight Society remixes) as well as this new CD compilation is now in stores.
In other news, after the unfortunate leak of Jade Elektra’s “How Do I Look” last year, work has been done to completely recreate the single which will stay true to the original productions that have blazed through NYC’s dance floors with a few extra surprises. Jade Elektra has given us a bunch of brand new vocals for a new original mix, and DJ Paulo & Todd D have decided to create a brand new remix as well. Just recently, DJ Relentless of XES fame debuted a homemade music video to the song which featured some of the most outrageous footage from recent balls around the New York area. All those that think they have everything this song has to offer now need to wait, as the newer “official” mixes to “How Do I Look” head your way very soon.
Well, everyone wants to know... What were the best house records of 2004? From our perspective there were some obvious hits such as “How Would You Feel” by David Morales & Lei-Loren, “Strict Machine” by Goldfrapp, “Luv 2 Luv” by Suzanne Palmer, and “Dirty Sex” by That Kid Chris & Melanie S. But there were many other lesser known tracks that kept us moving all year long that so many people may have forgotten about. DJ/Producer Curtis Atchison has posted his favorite 20 vocals and tracks of the year on our newly restored & renovated Midnight Society Forums. And don’t worry... he swallowed his pride and didn’t chart any of his own productions!! Check out the list at http://www.midnight-society.com/forums.
Lastly, you may have noticed over the last month or so that some of our web features, such as our online blog and our forums went through some major drama during the move of our web site to a faster & more stable server (special thanks to Michael Citarella from 2xtremehosting for all the help and for the excellent web service). We have been frantically rebuilding these sections so that we can restore our web site back to normal and focus on the newer things we have in store for 2005. The Midnight Society forums are back online with some new sections and a few system tweaks, however, we did manage to lose the posts & links that were previously on the site before and that includes the registered members. We’re asking all those who were registered before to please sign up again.
This brings an end to our first official newsletter for 2005! We have a LOT of new projects and parties under construction as we type this, so expect some major news to be unveiled over the next few months. We look forward to bringing the drama (and the beats) for another year and hope that you will come along with the ride with us. As always, thanks for your time and reminding everyone that there are only 352 more shopping days till Christmas... Hee hee hee!
