The end is nigh

We really live in an instant age.Global warming is going to get us so be fearful now. Wails of "what a time to bring up children"
Good grief when was a good time? Which century?
The thing is we are so conditioned now to instant pre-prepared meat, drink and answers we swallow all the media pap fed to us.Even the analysis of a new pope didnt go far beyond tired ethnic jokes because he was german. We have no time to analyse anything and only wake up when it is our child shot in some sand ridden hell-hole.
The sad thing is we are too busy to stop and think when now people have access to information never before available. We can make a difference and end the tyrrany of big corrupt business who would make us work 28 hour shift if they could and then serenely file for bankruptcy and steal our pensions when it suits them.
The end is nigh for them. Blow horns and whistles when you see corruption. Publish it. Truth must out.
End of raant. Have to go try to...

Evolution

How come humans are supposed to have evolved in 150,000 years whilst birds took millions and look much better.
They also always fly first class apart from the usual otherwise, bad tempered ones (ostriches, emus etc) one finds in all species. They seem to fight less and do not follow dubious religious or political fanatics.
I fear we may be some failed or forgotten experiment. Mutate mutate it may not be too late people. Look at yourselves. Closely. Yes that close! Yuk. Its in the DNA hey. ( DNA= do not ask)
ps If anyone finds my marbles please do not return them.

Death from the skies

Africa. Land of darkness. Particularly after sunset. Its is then, above the din of frogs, crickets and night birds, that you hear them.
At first one thinks it is a thin whine coming from the computer lazily left on. Then it gets louder, closer almost in my head--------------MOSQUITO. No more than one-thousands!
I stick most of my southern regions out from under the sheet as a decoy. Alas they are CO2 freaks. Round and round the ears at full throttle. Minature Blackhawks they cause a definite gust as they pass, engines screaming. Must counter-attack. Light on. Rolled up socks to hand. Wham on roof. Red smear. Didn't even feel that one had alraedy got to me. Silence. Light off. Dozing off.
Do I hear a faint whine?

Education please.

Can anyone help an ignoranr outsider with the following:
1 Why to the two US parties use a donkey and an elephant as emblems/mascots?
2 Why is the World Series so named.
3 Is it possible to tell a democrat from a republican from the way they look and/or talk.
4 Are there really 3 guns per citizen on average.
5 Is your national dish a turkey.
6 Do only 10% of the citizens have passports. ( Your deputy ambassador to the UK said this ).
7 Are 50% of the people there overweight.
8 Do all your B movie stars go to the same dentist.( Scurrilous romour in some english tabloid.)
9 Are small towns all run by bad sherrifs/mayors.(See B movies above as source.)
10 Was there a coverup at Roswell.
11 Has Dan Quail/Quaile/Quale really got a job as an english teacher.

Delusions

I used to think George W. Bush was funny. Then he actually was elected and transformed into the most lethal lame duck in the world. I wondered why the americans believe that the mantle of the presidency does not change a mere man into a sage superman. The most recent example all should remember is slick willy Clinton.
I asked an american friend this. He is a good, kind and educated person and yet a republican, who carries a huge burden. ( He married a democrat and, unlike Romeo, has to live with the consequences. ) He told me that the president knows things that we do not and makes his decisions accordingly.
This elevates him into something special. This worried me. He does not read, watches TV when not choking on pretzels and is surrounded by dubious advisors with links to big business. If he makes decisions based on what they tell him we are in trouble. It is like letting a contractor draw up the specifications for work he is tendering for. (eg Main Spec: tender will be owarded...
