Reaction to Jonah Goldberg column of 11-29
What kind of dope is Goldberg smoking? There is no comparison between the Bush Junta and Roosevelt's government. The run-up to the Iraq invasion was a case of national blackmail. Bush, the former cheerleader led the fear cheers, got our nation extra fearful that there "might " be a threat and we don't want another 9-11, and anyone who questioned him, even decorated veterans were smeared with why don't you love America? By holding our nation hostage to fear, created by his cooked-up threats, he got his way and for the first time America attacked a country who had not attacked her first . I shouldn't have to explain how that is different from our run-up to WWII, except that liars and spinners create so many alternative histories/realities that after awhile some junk begins to clutter the memory. Knowing how the conservative info pipeline works, I know that a small mention in that column of an American schooner that was rumored to have been sent into Japanese waters to get a rise out of the Japanese, will first become a ship that WAS sent by Roosevelt to try to start something, then become a battleship, then a task force bearing a preemptive war declaration signed in secret by all the members of congress. Finally, the title asked So what if Bush did lie? Wasn't this the guy who ran on basically only one plank, restoring honor to the presidency? I knew that was only consspeak for not getting oral from any interns, but those Americans who actually believed him should answer, if he lied he dishonored the presidency.
