Steven Harper ....... change his stripes??? ....... I personally don't think so.
Sun 15 Jan evening.
the grammer and spelling below should not be too bad, it is truth (hiding in a fictional writing) :)
My take on Harpers' change from last election to this election has been partially explained in previous posts. In my previous posts I basically say that he has learned to technically lie, keep his people within a gag bubble and only tell the people what they want to hear, in moderation of course.
Now my - "very brief"- take as to why he changed overtly but not covertly.
First, I read a little write up on his youth, a good starting point.
With him admitted that he never fit in well on team sports, has asthma (I feel for him), and basically did the High School track team thing. Move ahead a little to his studying of a soft science (economics) versus law, medicine, sciences or accounting. His admitted to always looking into the crowd and observing people, not participating. Move ahead to his angery outburts, having to be in control, moving to the NCC to get his views out into the public trying to prove his intellegence, back into politics when he thought he could win, sticking with politics now that he knows he is going to win. An auther who wrote the article on his youth admits that he (Harper) thinks he is the smartest person in the room and enjoys people to, and whom challenge his views.
Ok, boring, doesn't mean anything yet.
For Stevie to admit he does not get along with others in team sports allows one to picture Stevie all alone in a room filled with books as an intellectual scholar as he desparately tries to portray versus the dis-associative type of personality of an intelectual scholar wannabe. It tells me that his IQ is probally 105 to 108 but an EQ that is below normal.
So just an average kid who did not fit in? Why observe a crowd that you can't belong to? Is it to dream of fitting in?--Nope, denotes lower intelligence of desire to be a part of the pack. To observe the crowd hoping to find a way of fitting in and dreaming of leading the crowd and the joy that comes with it?--Nope, he already knows he doesn't fit in which means some of them don't like him, no chance of winning their hearts to lead them, but observe the crowd anyway.
The crowd that has shunned him, a micro-cosim of society. In simple terms a resentment forms, just a small one. The kicker....... he goes to bed at night and day-dreams of proving that he is smarter than the crowd, to the crowd. That he gets the last say. That proving superiority is the best revenge, that I am right and you are wrong. That I will prove I know whats better, better than you (the voters) do. That my beliefs are right and if you are not the same as me you are wrong. If you are wrong, you belong to that crowd that would not let me in. I will prove I am more intelligent therefore my beliefs are more correct than yours.
His change over since the last election is what he slowly learned is what is required to win. To win, unfortunately next with a minority government, (patience) move slowly at first with moderate policies that can be supported. Next election with a majority (the Fibs still in dissaray), I will be able to implement "my" policies quickly, then by the end of the mandate, the, "my intellegence based policies" will be proven correct.
If you still don't agree, its ok, Stevie will make sure you feel and are seen as a minority that lacks the intellegence to offer anything constructive, just destructive to the country, "not a Canadian". His revenge where he allows himself to gloat to himself at night when falling asleep.
Stevie will not care if he loses an election after a majority win.
He will have proven to himself that he is more intellegent than everyone else and that his majority dictated policies are the best for the country, and "his" policies get back at those that are not of likeness of him.
If I am not mistaken, he has discreditted the "people of the east" by saying they are not intellegent enough to get out of the culture of defeat, (or something along those lines). He of course considers himself more intellegent than those people who in his mind choose to live there.
While in Alberta working for the NCC (I believe it is called), he tried to prove his superiority over the rest of Canada by having Alberta build a fire wall around Alberta. His anger demanded a revenge of superiority.
His known anger shows that he can not handle it when he looks like an uprepared fool, a lack of confidence stemming from being over his level of intellegence, things go wrong, he looks like an idiot, he gets angery. His talking heads say he is just off on his own going through everything that happened, learning from it, then coming back stronger.
I say he is just plain ambarrassed because he looked like an idiot. He cannot compartmentalize, neither can his buddy bush with an IQ of 92 (est by a university which estimates all presidents, + or - 5 points), but clinton can, (IQ est 172, or was that 152????).
I wonder if Stevie is going to give his buddy Bush a call and put me on the no fly list? "His", a morally intellegent way of getting back at someone not like him. The odd person might not be aware that an American auther, WASP, University professor, who wrote an unflattering book about bush ended up on the no-fly list.
cheers :) majere
