Monday Night Football makes a change

by: juddyT

ABC has been the revolutionary football network that started the Monday Night Football.  Monday Night Football has always been on the top of the charts.  However, Monday Night Football is headed to ESPN starting in 2006 for $8.8 billion deal.  NBC will now take over on Sunday Night games.  I think that Monday Night Football should stay on ABC.  They do such a great job, and they will lose a lot of viewers.  It is too bad.

Scott Boras, big time agent

by: juddyT

Scott Boras is the ultimate agent.  There is so much money in sports and we always forget about the agency.  When Alex Rodriquez signed his record breaking, a lot of people felt that his agent, Boras, is ruining the game.  He signed it for $250 billion.  That is beyond wrong.  I do think he is ruining the game.  That is way to expensive, they shouldn't have to pay that much.  Check out an article on this agent king, at sportsjournal.com.

NFL looks to share

by: juddyT

I always boast about how well the business of the NFL is run.  They really utilize the revenue sharing to make it an even playing field.  In fact, baseball is recently trying to emulate their system.  However, there is still a widening disparity in team revenue which will lead to some significant changes in the NFL's economic structure.  Local revenue is not shared between the teams and that is the huge difference.  Check out the article on Sports Business Jounal.  www.sportsbusiness journal.com.

Red Sox lose season tickets

by: juddyT

Baseball season has just started to get the ball rolling.  However, bad news for a certain red sox fan.  I always wondered how the managment would respond to the fan who interfered with the two-run triple.  Last week Christopher House interfered with Jason Varitek's two-run triple by making contact with Sheffield while he was trying to field the ball.  Well, he got his season ticket privaleges revoked for the remainder of the season.  The club did announce that he will recieve full reimbursement upon returning the tickets.

Baseball trying to reach economic balance

by: juddyT

Major League Baseball owners finally got two things they have wanted for a long time: increased revenue sharing and levy a tax on clubs that carry stratospheric payrolls.  This definitely levels the playing field for all the teams.  Now, the New York Yankees will be affected by having an outrageous payroll.  As a result of the revenue sharing, most recipients can expect an increase of $3 million to $7 million.  Revenue sharing is something that helps the NFL be so prosperous.  Now, baseball is finally heading in the right direction.  I hope they continue to share their revenues from televison sponsors, etc.  Now, baseball is taking a step toward more balance.
