Matthew 2:11

by: jamryn

Then they opened their luggage and presented gifts:  gold, frankincense, myrrh.

Gifts for a new born baby?  Is this not what started this season? In todays time I wonder what these gifts might have been?

 Perhaps - shares of microsoft stock , Lavender insence and Eucalyptus oil.

Ecclesiastes 5:19

That's the human lot. Yes, we should make the most of what God  gives, both the bounty and the capacity to enjoy it, accepting what's given and delighting in the work. It's God's gift.

 I certanly see no arugument with that

Ecclesiastes 3:13

Thats it----eat,drink, and make the most of your job (life). It's God's gift.

That's a simple enough statement.

Thank you God! For your gift.

Yet if we all took that statement to heart - why then  do we quarel and get so upset with each other?

All the time?

Could it really be that simple?

Proverbs 21:14

by: jamryn

A quietly given gift soothes an irratable person; a heartfelt present cools a hot temper.

If this is true then - personaly - I need more (cash $$$$) to buy lots and lots of gifts for hubby dearest. He's always angry!   But then again we would soon need a bigger apartment - because he never throws anything away.

Proverbs 18:16

by: jamryn

A gift gets attention; it buys the attention of eminent people.

Attention=careful notice

Eminence = high repute

That's true - If your intent is to butter me up to get my attention - to get me to do something  that YOU want.  Giving me something I want - first - sure will do the trick.

The fancier the outside rappings - most likely the quicker the recipient will accept. But then isn't that puting strings  attached to the gift?  I've padded your ego with a gift you wanted so now you owe me what I want?

That might work for a while , but people will soon see through that trick and be leary of future gifts.

A true gift should always be - no strings attached - without compinsation

A Gift

by: jamryn

This a season of giving GIFTS. Some of us give joyfully others out of a sence of obligation.

Depending  upon what gift's we receve, some of us are pleased and others can't make it back to the store quick enough to return it.

To hopefully  better understand the word GIFT and what it means to us, I'm including  a definition here. Just so we are all on the same page.

GIFT = something given - something voluntarily transfered by one person to another with out compensation.

So if I was to say some of my blogs are gifts -  http://www.blogigo.com/jamryn    or future blogs  here in Blog Log

 that would mean.......

 that no where in that definition does it say - anyone is forced - bullied  or brow beaten into accepting a gift of any type. If you don't like or want the gift - dont except it - your choice - no hard feelings.

Because of my own curosity I started to look up passages that contained the word - GIFT. The more I found - the stronger my cerousity became.  It's now at least for my self a Bible study.

It is  a gift - if you so wish. Or not if you so wish.  I'm thinking some  blogers here on Blogigo might  find it somewhat interesting.
