Citizen's police Academy

The acadmy was a 13 week program put on by our local police department. It gives the people a general out look as to what the officers are doing.
We got to see things such as how they do trafic stops, how they work with the police dogs, what to do if we see a crime ( like a bank robbery) happening and more. They staged a surprise ( fake hold up ) for us to see first hand how they gather evidence.
I think there are similar programs acrosst the U.S. and a few other countries. Check out you're local police department to see if they have a similar program.
Next June - 2006 - our city will be hosting the national conference. You sign up at your local department - take the classes - graduate - we just might get an opportunity to meet one another - face to face - next June
