Dyngus Day
Polish anyone? I'm of German decent - I guess that's close enough. All I know is both grew up on daily meals of sourkrout, sausage, mashed potatos, chicken, etc. Here's a day to celebrate.
Dyngus Day http://www.polamjournal.com/polka/dyngus.html here in South Bend has become more of a political holiday. Since I'm tired of all the hokes-pocus stories I'll just stay home.
Hubby and I still get a laugh from a( true ) story told years ago. This driver for a local handcapted service decided to celebrate. Instead of using his own car he used the van. He got so plastered that he backed the van into a tree and dented in the whole back end. The next morning the boss asked what happened? The driver said - someone else took the van and recked it then brought it back and parked it in his drive way. He stuck to that story for over a week and coulden't figure out why he was fired and didn't get his last pay check.
