Screen Daily reports that Kuno Becker (Imagining Argentina) has replaced Diego Luna as the lead actor in soccer drama Goal!, which started shooting in London on January 29. After Diego was layed off the production.
Buena Vista International have picked up International rights to the film, while Latino targeted film label Arenas Entertainment has U.S. rights.
Mexican actor Becker stars in the rags to riches story of a young Latino player who journies from the ghetto of East LA to the glamour of the English Premier league to try and win a contract with Newcastle United.
Danny Cannon is directing the $30 million project, which will also be filmed at Pinewood Studios and on location in Newcastle and Los Angeles. The rest of the cast includes Stephen Dillane, Allessandro Nivola, Anna Friel, Marcel Lures, Sean Pertwee, Cassandra Bell, and Kieran O'Brien.
