Blame Arnold Schwarzenegger.  He liked the look of Hummers and wanted a tough-looking vehicle for himself.  "At his prodding, AM General... began making civilian Hummers in 1992, with the first vehicle off the assembly line going to Schwarzenegger himself."*  Apparently the whole idea of 'aggressive' cars was as a result of Americans' fears of violence and crime - SUVs were 'weapons - armoured cars for the battlefield'.  So Americans could feel big and strong behind the wheel of these monsters.  "Grill guards (or bumper bars) have no application under normal driving conditions", but they make SUVs look "angrier".  These monstrosities were deliberately marketed as 'urban assault luxury vehicles' and were supposed to make people feel safer.  SUVs are, as we know, anything but 'safe' - for anyone, driver included. 

Well, I'm not sure of the motivation behind NZers driving these things.  Nothing to do with fear - but more likely to make drivers feel 'tougher' - the NZ man is supposed to be a 'hard' outdoors character able to turn his hand to anything and to 'rough it' naturally he needs a tough vehicle.  The Toyota ute wasn't good enough any more.  It still sickens me to see these monsters on the road, despite the cost of petrol

You've heard of the "conspiracy theories", rejected by many because we all know conspiracy theorists are nutters....  It's an easy way to turn people off listening.  They're liberal leftists.  They know nothing.  They're in league with muslims and are probably anti-semitic, evil... you name it.  I've heard all the pathetic comebacks by the ignorant who continue to take everything the government says at face value.  They believe it all happened exactly as they say (even though they contradict themselves).  So you may have watched Loose Change, seen Fahrenheit 911, and wondered how much is truth and how much is just another 'conspiracy theory'.

I've read a great many books by respected authors and experts who say the same things as the 'conspiracy theorists'.  Here are just a sample.  Read any one of them or more than one and they all point to the same discrepancies, the same 'coincidences' the same facts that point to something fishy:

As well as books there are papers produced by professors, physicists, experts in their field - financial, aviation, terrorism.  They all say the same.

And yet people continue to believe the "official" lies.  They refuse to believe their government is corrupt.  They refuse to believe their eyes (How did a plane cause such a small hole?  Where was the plane?  How could it simply disappear?  How could massive buildings fall in seconds?  How could an average pilot crash a big plane into the pentagon at such an angle?  Where's the footage?  Why hasn't Osama Bin Laden been caught?  Why were his entire family allowed to leave the country just 2 days after 9/11?)

Stop believing lies.  Start questioning.  Start finding answers.

If you haven't already, watch this instead of the official version of events in the anniversary 'docudramas'.

I watched one last night.  It was a moving re-enactment of events told by those within the Twin Towers - survivors and families of those killed.  It was well done but ruined at the very end when a survivor and then one of the writers of the 9/11 Commission Report (full of lies, omissions and distortions of the truth) said that "they will attack again".  Sure, sure - keep the populace fearful.  9/11 served its purpose.  Unless Bush et al look to lose their prestigious positions there won't be any more and if there are - look not to the Middle East but to the US government.

It's disappointing that not much has changed in the public perception, or rather, the media's portrayal, of what happened on that fateful day.  I'm disgusted that an anniversary 'special' played over two nights on TV, claims to be the 'truth' of what really happened and yet this 'docudrama' looks to be another form of the official version of events.  I won't bother to watch it, getting fed up with the lies upon lies which continue to be trotted out as truth, while ignoring the discrepancies and the facts uncovered by several - by people involved and by researchers.
