The wood carver

There was once a young boy who dreamed about being a wood carver.  he would sit and think of all the wonderful things he could make out of wood and how much all the townsfolk would admire and buy his work.  It would live through generations, being passed down from father to son.  His work would outlive him and he was proud.

When the little boy was old enough he went off to wood carving school to begin his career and life quest.

From the moment he arrived at the school he started to feel sick and grew weaker and weaker.  After several weeks he was sent home and within a couple of hours he was fine.

Back to school he went and again grew ill, this time much worse than the first time.

After several episodes the doctor called the specialist and he worked out that indeed, the boy was allergic to wood.  In fact any more contact with wood could possibly kill him.

The boy was shattered, his life turned upside down by the terrible tragedy that had beset him.  How unfair the world was when he couldn't fulfill his destiny bacause of a tragic twist of fate.

And so, he bacame an ice sculptor, and he was known throughout the northern lands as the best winter scuptor that had ever lived.

Unfortunately every summer his beautiful works melted and he was forced stop his work as there was no ice.  At last he grew old and one spring he was found, weeping, crying himself to sleep as he watched another sculpture melt into the snow.

The best and most gifted ice sculptor that ever lived was not happy with all the work that he had ever produced.

"No one will ever remember me" he wailed.

When you seek, make sure you know what you are looking for, otherwise you could spend a lifetime seeking nothing.
