Standing in the sun

Mood: Always Happy
Listening to: Killers

It's looking like another scorcher today.  Definately going to get into the
30s again I reckon.

I've been watching a security guard across the street, standing in the sun.
I mean, the thing is, there's nothing special in the fact that he's standing
there, except there's no way I could do that:  Just stand there.  No queues,
I walk when I'm on an escalator, I even hate lifts to be honest.  It seems
to take huge mental effort to do nothing.  Like an inverse scale.

Perhaps it's got something to do with a test of mettle, or maybe people that
can stand still for long periods like this are willing to 'settle'.  I'm not
talking Buddhist contemplation, I'm talking about a security guard.  I am
also not talking about smelling the roses.  I just don't get it.

What does this person think about on his 12 hour shift? Standing in the
sun...

What is a Coat Hanger?

Mood: Always Happy
Listening to: The sound of aircon, slowly drying out my nasal passages

I know this sounds like a dumb question, but perhaps it depends on the context.

A coat hanger next to a beautiful suit represents wealth, the mark of a successful person perhaps?  It is a coat hanger; it hangs clothes.

Take that same hanger and put it next to a car, with the keys locked in the ignition.  Then it's a symbol of hope, of future freedom.  The potential for unlocking fun, adventure.  It's a way to make the world a happier place.

Now we see a 16 year old pregnant girl and a coat hanger.  That same hanger takes on a whole new meaning does it not?  Suppression of women, poverty, lack of education, the divide between rich and poor.  The classic cycle that exists within circles of people in the lower classes of society.

It's a metaphor for the future of this planet.  We have a number of possible future realities, but we are starting with the same things; the same objects, thoughts, dreams and ideas for the future.  It depends on how we use what we have got.  That will determine where we end up.

I would like to think of the world as a locked car, but in the back of my mind I can't help but think that a lot of people whould like it to be the pregnant girl, as long, of course, as it wasn't their baby daughter with hanger in hand.

The future is in your hands.  unlock your destiny, or ruin your life.

My future looks beautiful - how about yours?
