This morning's edition (11/1/06) of Morning Live on SABC 2 carried a
story about how our children do not have enough chairs in their
classrooms. This story is sad enough, but the fact that our
Deputy President went on a little trip with her family at the cost to
the taxpayer of over R400 000 leaves me with the question: Why wasn't
that money spent on chairs? Surely our Deputy President can
afford to fund her own holiday, as do most other South Africans.
I know we all look forward to a Christmas bonus, but a half million
rand Christmas holiday is taking things a bit far, especially in light
of the plight of our children.
It appears the Gravy train has become the Gravy Plane.
