Money See, Monkey Do

Mood: Happy hooray
Listening to: An irritating voice on the radio

Money's a funny thing.  It takes a shrewd business person, with guile, cunning a fat load of luck and some brass balls to become rich.  I mean really rich, trust fund rich.

You have to be smart, not Einstein smart, but street smart.  The kind of smarts that aren't taught but are needed.

So the money is made, an empire born.  Kids come.  They don't have to work, they are lazy, horrible types you see on reality TV shows.  High on coke, spoilt, and obnoxious.  I generalise, I like to.

And they are mostly dumb.  At some level money seems to dumb these kids down.  They know it doesn't matter if they can't spell, can't find Africa on a map etc... who cares?

And then poor people try to immitate them...

If you change a lightbulb...

Mood: Time to leave work, Monday's over, turn out the lights
Listening to: The wriggle in the head of the workers, going home before their houses are dark.

what happens?

You take the old bulb out and replace it with a new one.  It works.  Sometimes it blows up immediately.  Sometimes it lasts a long time.

Is the bulb faulty if it breaks, or is it the socket, the electricity supply or dodgy wiring?

When people blow up, how do you know it's about them not coping, or about the world not coping with them?  To be mad is to be different from the norm.  To be brilliant is to be different from the norm.

What is the answer, whose fault is it when a person's light goes poof?  Society expects us to cope, to be 'normal' to have all our argon in place and to maintain a steady temperature.  Whack up the current and watch out for the weakness.

When it happens, and you know it will, who are you going to blame?

When weak people snap should we beat them, throw them out with the garbage?  Perhaps we should feel sorry for them.  Perhaps we should help them cope and grow stronger.

It's not the strong who make the world their own, it's the weak ones that let it happen.

What kind of lightbulb are you?

Press the switch and see.

Future Friends

Mood: Wacky Wednesay
Listening to: Cell Phones ringing

Every which way you turn, there's the 'digital age' debate going on.  Too much information, too little time, loss of jobs etc.  All well and good, but I think the point is missing...

We aren't in the 'digital age' anymore. We've moved on... we're now in the age of relationships.  It's the way we do business, get along, and make life bearable.  Without forming relationships, no one will do business with you, regardless of speed, efficacy, price etc.  All these factors are becoming less important as the technolgy and surplus workforce means price and speed are all on a par these days.

So, the thing to do would be to get some people skills, and learn to smile. Women are much better at this than men (in public), so it could well be that it is the time of the woman.

If you want to survive, get some friends.

TimeQuake

Mood: I feel like Kurt Vonnegut
Listening to: Local band

If you could go back and do something again, only different, would you?

It could change your life, probably in  huge way.  Would you be yourself?  If you are shaped by your experiences then you are a product of what surrounds you.  Therefore there is no real you, there's merely a reflection of events and people, thrown randomly at your frontal lobe...

Fate Potential

Mood: Glad I'm not a CD.
Listening to: a bad radio commercial for insurance

I always have a box of blank CDs and DVDs next to my computer.  On most days I use 2 or 3 or more for various things.

I could burn artwork for printers, a presentation, backup work or make an audi CD.

The thing is, sitting in their little boxes, these disks have huge potential.  What fate awaits them and where is their future?

Unfortunately most times their fate is as follows:
Open the plastic wrapper, burn a piece of artwork, printer downloads art, throws out the disk which ends up in a landfill 2 days later.

On occasion the disk will be used to backup work.  It gets its own new title cover and sits snuggly in a drawer for years, protected by aircon from extreme temperatures, dry, safe, away from light.  This disk will be used over and over again to retrieve various bits of artwork.

My point?  My point is sometimes, fate plays a hand in your future that you have no part in.  It's a random event, an event effected from outside your control that can change your life forever and the course of all future events.

I know which disk I would rather be - how about you?

Mind the Gap

Mood: It feels GOOOOD to be alive
Listening to: Lives winding their way home after a hard day

There's a gap in our society.  It's been there for years, but these days it's starting to form a rift like the Mariana Trench...

The gap betweenrich and poor; it's alway been extreme sure, but there used to be a middle-class sandwiched between the two.  Longing for the freedom to say 'buggar it' yet striving for the freedom that wealth brings.

It's disappearing fast, the middle class.  Along with it values and social norms have become a dichotomy.  The wealthy do as they please... anything they want.  At the same time the poor are being made to live by more and more conservative value systems, imposed by the rich to oppress the poor.

Without the middle class, the nature of society changes.  The balance of power shifts and there is no going back.

It's the middle ages being repeated all over again in a sense.  How can a peasant overthrow a lord?  Well we now know how... it's just that the weapons have got bigger, the walls higher and the gap wider.

The only way through is to be successful, to be your own master and own your own adventure, whatever you choose it to be.

Just mind the gap, or your future could be: someone else's servant.

What is a Coat Hanger?

Mood: It's looking up
Listening to: The sounds of people opening car doors with hangers

I know this sounds like a dumb question, but perhaps it depends on the context.

A coat hanger next to a beautiful suit represents wealth, the mark of a successful person perhaps?  It is a coat hanger; it hangs clothes.

Take that same hanger and put it next to a car, with the keys locked in the ignition.  Then it's a symbol of hope, of future freedom.  The potential for unlocking fun, adventure.  It's a way to make the world a happier place.

Now we see a 16 year old pregnant girl and a coat hanger.  That same hanger takes on a whole new meaning does it not?  Suppression of women, poverty, lack of education, the divide between rich and poor.  The classic cycle that exists within circles of people in the lower classes of society.

It's a metaphor for the future of this planet.  We have a number of possible future realities, but we are starting with the same things; the same objects, thoughts, dreams and ideas for the future.  It depends on how we use what we have got.  That will determine where we end up.

I would like to think of the world as a locked car, but in the back of my mind I can't help but think that a lot of people whould like it to be the pregnant girl, as long, of course, as it wasn't their baby daughter with hanger in hand.

The future is in your hands.  unlock your destiny, or ruin your life.

My future looks beautiful - how about yours?

What if?

Mood: Happy
Listening to: The Distillers

If I had everything I wanted, right now, how would I feel?

Let's see; I'd be married to the lovely Angie, the one who lights up my world in every way.  She makes the clouds dance and the wind sing, uplifts me and affirms my reason for being here.

I'd be successful in terms of money, I mean a lot of money.  With two kids, probably girls as sweet as candy, but not affected by priviledge.

I'd have travelled to all parts of the world and seek out a favourite place each year to reaffirm memories of a time forgotten.

If it arrived today, with all the memories in place... how would I feel?  Not as grateful as I will feel when I achieve these things shortly.

Without struggle, there is no hope, without failure, what is success?

This world offers much, it's up to you to control the future.  Control your destiny by having positive future thoughts.  Enjoy each day for what it is an accept the struggle as part of life, not of drudgery.

People have beautiful hearts, you just need to find the right key.

Here's to a future of promise, a future of love and fulfillment.  Most of all, here's to a future of appreciation and wonder.  The world needs all the wonder it can get.

Believe in yourself, and you can move the world.

Perception is 9/10ths of the law

Mood: Okay
Listening to: Muck on the radio

Actually I lie.  It's probably more like 100%.  What we see we believe... look at magicians to see what I mean.

It's all crazy in the land of Nod...

Have a great day!

Service Centre

Mood: Tired
Listening to: The sound of the airconditioning

Perhaps a lube job is needed.  Not sure.  The oil has got dirty and it's not fun anymore.

We take our cars for servicing, but not our bodies and minds.  I need a service, I need new air in my tyres.  Anyone know a good mechanic?
