Are the british roads safe?
British road are full of cars, vaehicles, motorbikes and bikes. People are not able to move without them this times. Thats way The Government places try tomake roads more safety to keep car accidents and traffic injuries in minimum.
In some cases vehicles can be so danger as a wepons, thats way it is so important to prevent car accidents (many people died in traffic accident).
Drivers not always obey strict traffic law. Almoust 60% of them admitted to use mobile phones in the middle of driving. It have very destructive influance on driving and can in some cases can caused a car accident! Almost 100% of drivers between 16 and 34 years old use mobile whilst driving.
From the end of 2003 drivers will be paying penalty of £30.00 if they will use mobile whilst driving. Maxiumum penalty can rise till £1,000.00 if the matter proceeds to Court, £2,500.00 for drivers of lorries and buses. Further legislation is planned so that drivers will have 3 points on their licence each time they are caught.
Employers who forced their workers to use phone in the middle of driving can be prosecuted. So better to wait a while...
But not mobiles are the most reson of car accidents in UK. Speed killes much more drivers, passengers and pedestrian then any kind of mobile phone! Almoust 2/3 of all accidents happen on the roads with 40mph speed limit! In this accidents are killed or injured quite a lot of people! Thanks speed cameras in many dangerous places drivers hopefully slowed down.
Drinking alcohol during driving is much more dangerous then any other abuse of drivers! Alcohol effectively fall ability of driving and perception. If you are caught, the penalties are severe. The Police are able to test for drugs and if convicted for drug-driving offences in the UK you will face a minimum of a one-year driving ban, a fine of up to £5,000.00 and up to 6 months in prison.
As our roads become evermore congested, the issue of road safety will continue to be at the forefront of Government policy and we all hope that the roads become a safer means of travel.
