Varna is the second most important economic centre for Bulgaria after Sofia and one of the major hubs for the Black Sea region.
The economy is service-based, with 61% of net revenue generated in trade and tourism, 16% in manufacturing, 14% in transportation and communications, and 6% in construction. The city is the easternmost destination of Pan-European transport corridor 8 and is connected to corridors 7 and 9 via Rousse. The municipality Byala is located in Varna in the central part of the Bulgarian Black Sea coast. The most important components of the natural wealth of Byala are the sea and its coast, as well as the mountain with its forest and other resources. These factors are prerequisites for tourism development.

Avren municipality is located in North-East Bulgaria at the Black sea coast in Varna District. The Municipality consists of 17 cities and villages. The regional center of Avren municipality is village of Avren Avren municipality has an outlet on the Black Sea - a 10 km coastal strip covering the Kamchia resort complex.
The economic sectors are agriculture and tourism. The existing 49 sq.km hectares of recreational forests and 16 sq.km of hunting grounds is also of vital importance. There has been considerable investment interest. By 2007 4- and 5-star hotels, a golf course property in bulgaria and a horse-riding club are planned to be built as part of the complex. A major investment contribution in the resort belongs to the city of Moscow.

Balchik municipality is located in North-East Bulgaria in Dobrich District. It is a Black Sea municipality, a resort center and a popular tourist destination. There are 2 ports in the Municipality - Cargo berth and Yacht marine.
Tourism in the Municipality is developed mainly by Albena property, as well as by numerous private companies and rest homes in Balchik and Kranevo. There are approximately 22,000 beds available for accommodation in private homes, summer houses, rest homes and resort complexes of Balchik municipality. Albena property and resort complex is one of the most beautiful resorts on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast. The Touzlata sanatorium resort complex with the curative mud and salt-water lake is another potential site for investments.


To the north and south of Burgas one can visit numerous holiday complexes and villages which offer wonderful conditions for vacation and relaxation – Nesebar, Sunny Beach property and others. All of them are connected by a panoramic seaside road. Archeological, architectural and historic monuments in the region are favorable for development of cultural tourism. The Old Nesebar is a unique monument of culture and is inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. In the Strandzha Mountains can be seen some of the most ancient structures made by humans – the dolmens. Thracian mounds, ancient Greek poleis, remains of ancient and medieval fortresses have been found here.

Kavarna is a small port town which has a broad outlet on the Black Sea to the Eastern and Southern sides. The coast is varied and there are cliffs combined with beaches and abrasive formations such as caves, fissures, etc. The area lacks surface running water and irrigation is most valuable. There is a steep cape called Kaliakra near the town, famous for the romantic legend about forty ‘maidens’ committing suicide in the name of Christianity. It is also famous for the caves - once the habitat of the extremely rare Black Sea monk seal.
