kuno becker: the new hispanic face in hollywood
Kuno Becker is succeding in Hollywood, he is very close to becoming the next mexican star in Hollywood.
Born in the city of Mexico, Kuno has been filming for many months his new flick The Nomad in Kazakhstan, a country between China and Russia. The film, which has the famous director Milos Forman (One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest and Amadeus) as executive producer, will transform this handsome mexican actor into a Nomad of the XVIII century.
During an interview made via e-mail, Kuno Becker assured from Kazakhstan that "this is an incredible opportunity" for his career, in spite of the low temperatures. The 26 yr old actor assured us his is very happy with this experience. "I am really great! Its a very different site", he said.
Kuno Becker has been training for months, in the use of traditional weapons of that region. "Swords, knifes, arcs, arrows, in combat on horses" and how to handle themselfs with tons of equipment that those young men took in their fights, at that time.
"Its an incredible opportunity; the production is of high quality and I hope that this film demonstrates another phase of another one of my capacities as an actor", emphasized Kuno Becker, who has great hopes that this film will help even more in his internationalisim as an actor.
The Nomad, which will not be released in the U.S. until next year, tells the story of Mansur, a young man destined to united the three enemy tribes of the country.
For Kuno Becker, filming this movie wasn't only a physical challenge or as an actor, but also finding himself filming in english. "I am already quite comfortable. With each film I learn more, I loosen more, and in reality it just became second nature." Kuno assured. Kuno Becker has already filmed other flicks in the english language like Two Lovers and a Wedding (Isla Bella), which will be released in the U.S. in 2004, and Imagining Argentina which will also be released in 2004, although it doesn't yet have an exact release date. Kuno Becker learned english when he was very young, which has helped him a lot in his new career as a Hollywood actor. Since Kuno speaks really good english.
Musician turned Actor
Music and not films surrounded Kuno's life for many years. His parents taught him the love for the classics and playing an instrument, something he did at a professional level. "I studied violin for many years, from 6 to 17 yrs of age, and was going on and off to Austria to study it." The fact that his grandfather was german, and also named Kuno, made him travel to Austria.
Besides music, Kuno Becker learned the German language in elementary school and later perfected it in his various trips to Austria.
This mexican actor, who assures that went in front of the cameras (actor), "at first for curiosity, but later he fell in love with acting and the rest is history." In order to refine his technique he decided to study in the Center of Artistic Education of Televisa (mexican arts & drama school), where he attended for 3 yrs.
Kuno Becker has forged his knowledge as an actor in soap operas that he filmed in his country, Mexico. Mexican soap operas like: Dreamers [Soñadoras] where he was the protagonist, or Deceived Women [Mujeres Enagañadas], which were the fundemental base of the international actor he is today.
In such a short time he has gone from television to starring in international films like the mexican film Lucia, Lucia (with Cecilia Roth) and the hollywood film Imagining Argentina (with Antonio Banderas and Emma Thompson).
His work and his talent have helped him a lot, since Kuno says that you need more than physic and luck to earn your place in the world of Hollywood. "Luck alone does not take you to success. You have to work, have discipline and have a crew & team behind, like the one I have." Kuno Becker assures, praising the role his managers have had, that has helped him get important movie roles in important films thanks to his work, talent and experience.
