kuno becker searches for good film roles

The mexican actor Kuno Becker assures that his goal is to find good film roles, with the framework, of the presentation of the film "Imagining Argentina' in Madrid, Spain.

The Mexican actor Kuno Becker assured that his goal right now is " to continue to find good movie roles" that will permit him to grow as an actor, after his starring role in the film Imagining Argentina directed by the britanic director Christopher Hampton.

In an interview with Notimex,, Kuno said to have felt satisfied with his entrance to Hollywood with this film that has permited him to diversify his work as an actor and consolidates his career in Hollywood.

Although he affirmed that filming in Hollywood is very interesting, and doesn't have preferences for a concrete place, "in reality, I don't have much in my head to work in american cinema or make a mexican film".

"I'm looking for good roles, and it wouldn't matter to me, in the contrary, I would love for it to be in a different place every time, but of course I would like to film in Mexico again, and Spain also", he said.

Kuno Becker is in Spain right now, promoting his film Imagining Argentina, in which he shares starring credits with the spanish actor Antonio Banderas and the britanic actress Emma Thompson.

In Hampton's film, Kuno Becker gives life to Gustavo Santos, a repressive argentinean involved in crimes of civilians during the Argentine military regime.

"Its an interesting and complex role, which is what any actor is looking for, a character with more substance, more complex, denser and with very strong scenes", he explained about his role in the film.

Besides, "its about something totally different from what I had done until now", Kuno indicated, that he debuted in cinema with Antonio Serrano's film, "Lucia, Lucia", alongside the argentine actress Cecilia Roth.

The interpretation of Gustavo Santos behind him had ample work of documentation to deepen the character, task that, Kuno admitted resulted "very hard and dramatic, because its a story based on real life."

"I got close to him, by reading and asking people and it was really hard, horrible, its something that can't be hidden and that happened recently about 20 yrs ago. Its not something that was very distant and was very delicate to treat." he said.

With experience also in theater, where he worked in plays like "In Rome life is a Joke" and "Forbidden Faults", Kuno Becker assured that to portray the character he tried to also use the resources he had at his reach.

"Its really hard to understand how somebody could do something like this, my grandgather Kuno was german and he was a victim of nazism, and for me it was very interesting to find connections to deepen the character", he explained.

"Filmmaking is a media that offers an amplified range of characters and stories, besides there is more time to prepare things, to talk to the director, with our film companions and to try and enjoy every moment", he said.

"As a person it also leaves me with a lot of satisfaction, when I begin to get bored, because I am portraying the same character more than once, its not a challenge anymore and then I don't find it many options", he said.

"In reality my primary objective is to do something different to what I have done before", assured Kuno Becker, who at the moment is working in a project of the czech director Ivan Passer, whose filming in Kazakhstan has predicted to be retaken this summer.

After his being in mexican television in the soap operas Decieved Women [Mujeres EngaƱadas] and Dreamers [SoƱadoras], said that he does not like to classify himself into a certain role.

"I tried to get rid of the characteristics that you (the press) said I had, what they are", he emphasized.

In the personal terrain, Kuno Becker admits that the fame of being a hollywood star and the pressure of a certain public "is part of his work", a part with which he coexists and does not become a problem to him in his day by day.

"My relationship with the people or that they consider you of a form or another in my life does not change anything, I am still the same person, although my circumstances do change a little here and there, for example Spain I live there with less pressure than in Mexico", he concluded.
