'goal! 2' director announced
'House of Wax' helmer Jaume Collet-Serra will oversee part two of the football trilogy.

August 11 2005- In an unusual move, Milkshake Films have signed up a director for the forthcoming sequel 'Goal! 2' even before the original 'Goal!' is released.
Spanish helmer Jaume Collet-Serra ('House of Wax') will direct the second film in a proposed footballing trilogy that follows a young Mexican from Los Angeles to England then Spain and finally to the World Cup Finals in Germany in 2006.

'Goal! 2' will follow the youngster, who is played by Kuno Becker, as he is transferred to Real Madrid to play alongside the likes of David Beckham, Zinedine Zidne, Roberto Carlos and Ronaldo.
Of the decision to appoint Serra as director, producer Mike Jefferies explains: 'We believe Jaume is one of the most visual storytellers of his generation. He also has a great sensitivity and is amazing with story and talent.
'Plus, the fact that he's Spanish is going to make things incredibly efficient for us, because that's where we're shooting 'Goal! 2'.
The first 'Goal!', which is directed by Danny Cannon, is due to hit UK screens on September 30.
