antonio banderas and kuno becker: "in a better world" imagining argentina released in spain

Imagine together the spanish actor Antonio Banderas, the english actress Emma Thompson and mexican actor Kuno Becker. Now give loose rein to your imagination and place them in the Argentina of the 70s. Yes, because that is what you are gonna see in the film Imagining Argentina when its released in theatres. So far, the world-wide release of the film has been recently given in Madrid. Antonio Banderas is emphatic that the dirty work in Imagining Argentina is a story that should never be forgotten. And its possible that the film will be released in the U.S. during the autumn.

Now imagine Antonio Banderas as Carlos Rueda the director of a children's theater, that has the gift to see the destiny of the disappeareds, but when he tries to use his power to locate his wife it is hard for him to see the whereabouts of his wife Cecilia (portrayed by Emma Thompson), a journalist who dared to denounce the abuses of the military government and became one more disappeared. With his impossibility to "imagine" Cecilia, Carlos begins a journey in the search for Cecilia. Ruben Blades is Silvio, Carlo's best friend.

Imagine the young actress Leticia Dolera as Teresa, the daughter of Carlos and Cecilia. Carlos and Teresa participate in the manifestations of the mothers in "la plaza de Mayo", protesting for their missing relatives. Their Carlos meets Gustavo, a good looking young man, who tells Carlos that one of his family members was kidnapped, While they talk in the temple, some mysterious vehicles take away many of the women outside.

Finally imagine Kuno Becker as that young man, Gustavo Santos, a character based on lieutenant Astiz, "the white angel", a young man who is not what he pretends to be, that behind that angelic face exists a hard and cold man, capable of hurting and damaging innocent people. A hard role for Kuno Becker, but the director and screenplay writer of Imagining Argentina, Christopher Hampton, britanic and born in Portugal, was more than satisfied with Kuno's work. Since Kuno Becker demonstrated the talent he has and his acting capacity, with his character. Which is totally different from Kuno and what he has done in his acting career. Character that was a challenge for Kuno.

Imagining Argentina was presented in the last Film Festival of Venice and recieved very good reviews from the press, and counted with the public's support whom where more than satisfied with the film, with the respect the story was told and how great it was done. The public showed their support for the film, and that they liked Imagining Argentina by giving it a standing ovation that lasted over 5 minutes after its screening in the festival, it was filled with applause and positive comments. The only ones who were bothered by the film and dedicated themselves to talk trash about Imagining Argentina, was Univision, because for obvious reasons they were angered with the success of this great film.

In the release of Imagining Argentina in Madrid, the whole cast carried on their clothes a black bow as a symbol of duel by the victims of the attacks that shocked the spanish capitol on March 11, where 191 people passed away.
