Hungary seventh part - tour around nice cities and to Balaton lake

As you guessed already, I was quite busy last weeks, that’s the reason why there was no news. So I am back in Germany already and have had a presentation last week with the first part of my results. Together with Dr. Szabó (my teacher) and Prof. Gaál (the president of Veszprém University) I travelled to Darmstadt. We discussed the results with the German colleagues and finally everybody was satisfied.

After our trip to Budapest Anja and me have had some “normal” days in Veszprém. Anja also had to learn a little bit, so I could work as usual. But in the evenings we went out with our friends to have party (in Mythos, Grand Canyon and Scorpio).

On Friday I organized a tour to nice cities in the western part of Hungary. First we visited the Benedictine Abbey in Pannonhalma. It is quite impressive on the top of the hill. The history of this abbey is as old as the Hungarian, because the first monks settled down there about the year 1,000. The most impressive thing is the library they have got with about 360,000 books.

After the monastery we went to Györ, a historical and beautiful city. Especially the shopping street looks so nice with the old houses and there even was Christmas decoration. We visited a Christmas market and for lunch we ate tasty “pörkölt” (Gulash).

In Fehtö (a small village), they have got a big palace. We admired it, but just from outside, because it was closed already. But we walked around in Sopróm later and enjoyed the houses from middle ages.

Crossing small streets we looked for the way to Köszneg, our last station. This nice city next to Austria was like a dead city, because it was dark and cold already. So we decided to go back to Veszprém, where we have had a nice evening together with Ingo and his girlfriend.

In the next morning we started our tour to Balaton lake. First we stopped at the isle of Tihany. It is the highest place next to the lake and the other side of the lake is here just 1.5 km away. In the summer it must be awful, because there seems to be a lot of tourists, but in winter time there is nobody except some crazy tourists like us

After that I showed Anja Kesthany (I was there few weeks ago, remember?) and in the afternoon we went to a swimming-pool. In the evening we attend to a concert with classical music. It was so nice especially the decoration with candles and the mood was like on Christmas.

On Sunday we enjoyed the good weather and visited the zoo in Veszprém. It is during two hills and they have got a lot of nice animals. After the zoo visit I just spend time to finish my workout, but as you know already, it was successful.

At the moment I am sitting in the library, reading German literature about my topic and started writing my workout already…
