Summer in Germany

by: abo2

The whole weekend we had got more than 32 degrees. Sure it was nice for the people who were able to go to the lake or swimming pool, but for me I was learning and sweating in the garden... On Sunday my grandparents invited for grill party (my first one in Germany this year) and for the night I decided to sleep in our garden (see the picture), because my bed is direct under the roof, so it is awful hot there! Unfortunately it started to rain surprisingly at 5 a.m. and I must go back into the house...

public holiday and SUNSHINE

by: abo2

Today in the most Regions of Germany there was a public holiday, because of a celebration day of the catholic church. It is called "Fronleichnam" and a lot of people went to church in the morning. There was a traditional procession and when we walked through the streets, the houses and squares were decorated with flowers.

Also a lot of people used this day to enjoy the sun and they went out by bike. Today it was the first day in 2005 when we had got 34 degrees!

tour around Germany by motorbike

by: abo2

Before travelling around the world, you should know your own country
That's the reason why Anja and me decided to travel few days around Germany. We visited a lot of famous cities like Nürnberg (Bavaria), Weimar (the "capital" of German culture, where the most important German writers, Goethe and Schiller have lived), Fulda, Rothenburg and a lot of beautiful old towns.
With the motorbike we found nice small streets and the tour was about 1.200 Kilometer (see black line).

Boccacio - performance with orchestra and theatre

by: abo2

Last weekend there was theater with acters from our church. Together with our orchestra "Starkenburg Phillharmonie" we acted "Boccaccio", a nice story about love and different relations. The story is set in 15th century in Italy, but it seems to me some things never change in society...
The theatre was Openair and after rain on Saturday, fortunately the weather was quite good on Sunday and Monday. So, in the end the performance was successfull, about 1.200 people visited the show and were enthusiastic.

party congress of Junge Union

by: abo2

The anual party congress of Junge Union Hessen (federal state) was in Rödermark this year. 400 "young-politicians" met to discuss different topics and elect a new party executive.
One of the highlights was the speech of our prime minister Roland Koch and in the evening there was a "real" party, of course!

Pictures - Alex in Moscow

by: abo2

During the 12 days in Moscow I visited a lot of places, buildings, churches and monasteries. My special THANKS to Sveta as well as Jenya, Andrey and Inna, they had organized this great program and took care of me everytime!

Especially the 60 years celebration of victory's day (end of war) on 9th of May was a really interesting experience for me as a German. The whole city was colored in red-orange-yellow; everywhere advertisement, flags, banners etc.

I also tasted the Russian food (delicious!) and enjoyed Russian parties.

I've sorted the pictures in 5 different topic-galleries:

>> Moscow - the city
>> Kremlin, the heart of Moscow
>> 60year celebration - end of war
>> Churches and monasteries
>> Friends & food
