Livable Beliefs
No, I'm not a Dr. Phil buff. However, on occassion I'll watch... just to critique of course. From time to time he'll respond to a guest, "I hear what you're saying, but you don't really believe that." Doc then gives examples where the guest's behavior proves non-belief.
James admonishes Christians to do the truths they hear. Furthermore, James says that our beliefs are seen in our actions. Let's face it, if your belief doesn't effect your behavior, then your belief has no value.
Which Bible verse (belief) most effects your behavior on a daily basis?

On the day the LORD gave the Israelites victory over the Amorites, Joshua prayed to the LORD in front of all the people of Israel. He said, \"Let the sun stand still over Gibeon, and the moon over the valley of Aijalon.\"
So the sun and moon stood still until the Israelites had defeated their enemies. Is this event not recorded in The Book of Jashar[]? The sun stopped in the middle of the sky, and it did not set as on a normal day. (NLT)
This is a wonderful story and picture of belief in God. I am less amazed at the fact that God made the sun stand still than I am of the unbelievable faith (and confidence) Joshua had to ask the Lord to do it. It shames me to think about how puny my prayers sometimes are.
The more I study Scripture, the more I am certain that when we pray in true faith and in God\'s will, we can ask Him for anything and we should be confident enough in His sovereignty to believe that such a prayer is not silly or insane. We must have the faith to believe it is possible.
I\'m not talking about a \"name it and claim it\" type of prayer. God isn\'t interested in seeing that we get all the things we want. He is concerned that all His children get the things they need to further His kingdom. Often that means those are things we think we don\'t want!
What we do need is a bigger faith, a bolder belief and the absolute confidence that every prayer we send up to Him is reaching the One who held the sun.
