Tolerating Islam?
Okay, so I'm a little behind on this one. Almost five years to be exact. Today, I received an email about the Islamic Stamp. To be honest, I didn't believe the e-mail, so I went to SNOPES.COM to see if this was another urban legend. "Nope," says SNOPES. It's true. Turns out that the EID Stamp, pictured below, was introduced on September 1, 2001, just 10 days prior to 9-11. The stamp was introduced on August 1 in a press release from the USPS.
The stamp recognizes the Islamic feast that follows Ramadan. Therefore, the EID Stamp is part of the Holiday series which also recognizes Christian and Jewish feastivals.
The question comes, "Should I buy this stamp?" Personally, I would not, for the same reason a Jew wouldn't buy a Merry Christmas stamp and for the same reason a Muslim wouldn't purchase the Kwanzaa stamp.
Is it a matter of boycott? No. Am I becoming too intolerant? Depends on your definition of tolerance. According to the pure definition I am not intolerant.
Today's culture violates the meaning for tolerance and equates it with sharing beliefs. In other words, today's culture says that I must never verbally disagree with a Catholic Democrat if I'm to be tolerant as a Protestant Republican. However, such a use of toleration falls short. True tolerance requires one to hold to a belief while accepting others even when in disagreements.
Unfortunately, today's realism causes people to be wishy-washy--to not hold to any beliefs in fear of offending. Because of realism, people who think through situations with guiding principles and consistent reasoning are viewed as intellectual retards.
With true tolerance, I can make room for an EID stamp and an Islamic Mosque in my community. Furthermore, true tolerance demands that I not change my own beliefs nor embrace their beliefs. Rather, I am to move on with our differences.

All the memories with Uncle Al
Today, as I was searching for something unrelated, I came across a fond childhood memory. Uncle Al, along with Cowboy Bob, was my hero. The fun songs and exciting stories made for magical mornings. I remember when Uncle All and Miss Wanda came to our hometown. Mom was sure to take my sister and me. In 1985, Uncle Al performed his last show. I don't remember the details, but I do remember sitting in front of the television saying good-bye to an old friend.

Fun in IN: Taco Sauce Prank
Hoosiers always have something fun up our sleeves (I'm almost embarassed to include myself here, but...). From running through corn mazes to collecting packets of hot sauce, you just never know what kind of fun your missing.
Ten to fifteen wild and crazy pranksters took their collection to a new level when they left their collection of three-years worth of TacoBell hot sauce packets at an Indy Taco Bell. They stored the estimated 200 gallons of sauce in the trunk of their car.

Is Lieberman's goose cooked?
Yesteraday and last night all attention turned to Connecticut's senate race. Joe Lieberman versus Ned Lamont. Lamont won the Democratic nomination. However, this morning's news is not about Lamont's victory, but Lieberman's.
If Lieberman keeps most of his 130,000 primary voters, which is only 10,000 less than Lamont received, Lieberman has a pretty good shot. Let's face it, the election will be much like a run off, and incumbents typically have stronger showings in run offs. Furthermore, most of the independents and Democratic moderates who did not show for the primary, NY Post's Dick Morris suggests, should tend to vote Lieberman. Also in the equation is the GOP wows with Alan "Gold" Schlesinger who failed to win the hearts of most Republicans. Lieberman can also count on a number of frustrated conservatives to vote for him.

Must Haves
I've been accused of coming up with some wacky food combos. But I never thought of combining ice-cream and pizza. Well, that's not exactly the combo, but take the ice cream cone concept and apply if to pizza and you have the next big eatery to hit USA.

The cones have hit CA with a group called Crispy Cones.

George 2008: Could it be?
I've been think "George" would be a good name for GOP's 2008 Presidential nod. I've followed George Allen. However, rumor says another George might be running. I'll give you a hint he's from New York and you spell his last name P-A-T-A-K-I.
Pataki was in our community this week, sounding like a presidential hopeful. [learn more]
