Shel's questions

What is your favorite Holiday? Christmas!

Why? I love watching peoples faces when they’re opening their pressies, it makes it all worthwhile!!

What is your least favorite Holiday? Valentine's Day.

Why? I agree with Shel on this one…There is immense pressure to do something incredibly romantic and I don’t really see the point! I know my man loves me and that’s what counts…don’t need a specific day to tell him, I tell him every day anyways!!

What is your fondest memory of your first love? Well, my first love is my hubby! My fondest memory is when we first met in person(We met on the net and we decided to meet up after two months) he turned up an hour early and rang me to tell me he was waiting for me!!

What was your first 'real' breakup like? That would be my hubby again, we went thru a rough patch when we lived real far apart for a while (We always lived about 50 miles away but he lived further away for a while for work) and he decided it was too much so we broke up…for about a month!!! Then he called me and said he’d made a mistake and we got back together!!

What was one of the most emotional times you remember from high school? It was when my Drama Tutor, Science Tutor and English Tutor all left in the same term…I cried!

If you win the lottery, what would be the first thing youd buy? I would buy my mum’s house for her (She’s leasing) cos I always said I would…then I’d by me and hubby a bigger house and lots of cats!!

Would you share the money you won from the lottery, honestly? Yeah I would!

If you would, pick only 2 people to share it with. Tell us who and why you chose those two people. I would share with my mum and my nan and grampy cos I love them! Of course my hubby would get some cos he’s my hubby! What’s mine is yours and all that!

When you were younger, did you eat dinner at the dinner table with your family? Sometimes we did, specially when we were living with nan and grampy for a while when mum and dad divorced…they own a hotel and we always ate in the dining room!

What were some of the things you weren't allowed to do at the table? Eat with our mouths open, no elbows on the table, that kind of thing!

What was the most difficult decision of your life up to this point? Um…whether to move away to Uni or whether to go to Uni near my mum and two lil brothers – I moved!!

What are 3 shows [movies or tv shows] that you watch at least 1 time a week a piece? Um…Scrubs (V funny!) BBC News 24 Channel, every morning before work so I can see what’s happening in the world!! Oooh, and number three…guess that would be The Simpsons. I’d love to say ‘Lost’ that thing about the people all stranded on an island after a planecrash but I keep missing it!!

What is your favorite meal when you go out to eat and at where do you get it? Mmmmm, it’d have to be Pizza from Pizza Hut!

What is your favorite dessert when you go out to eat and where do you get it? I never get dessert! I’m always too full up! (Really, I’m not kidding!)

Describe your favorite outfit. Errm…my Wedding Dress!! I LOVE my dress!

What is your favorite meal to cook at home? Lasagne or Roast Chicken dinner!

And your favorite dessert to make? It’s got to be Apple Crumble!

If you had to move to another state in the United States, where would you go and why? Um, well I don’t live in the US but if I did I’d move to somewhere where there was lots of trees and mountains and lakes, with a big shopping place nearby so I could buy lots of shoes!!! If I had to live somewhere else in the UK it would be Wales cos my nan and grampy live up there and it’s lovely!

What was the most hurtful thing someone has ever said or done to you? My brother said he couldn’t be bothered to come to my wedding, he said he had more important things to do.

What was your most memorable birthday gift? When hubby proposed to me on my 21st! He was down on one knee and everything!

What is the most amazing thing someone has ever said or done for you? Um…my best friend from Uni helped me thru my wedding day as my chief bridesmaid. I suffer from anxiety attacks and inevitably I had one right in the middle of the reception…she calmed me down and helped me thru.

What was one of the most memorable Halloween scares you've ever had? I haven’t really had any…’cept when some kids rang the doorbell and instead of saying trick or treat they shouted “Boo!!” They were all dressed as ghosts bless em and were all ickle kiddies! Made me jump!

Finally, during this past summer, what was your most fondest memory? I haven’t really had a summer holiday…the only thing I can think of is when we got married in May…I’ve been working my lil socks off since then I’m afraid!

I was...

Bugs Bunny!
You scored 0 Aggression, 85 Sophistication, and 57 Optimism! You have all the sophistication and charm one would expect from such a high-class hare. Very upbeat and generally laid-back, you are remarkably calm and peaceful even in the midst of the most stressful of situations. On those rare occasions that your anger is aroused, your retaliation usually results in embarrassing the aggressor and laying-bare how foolish he or she really is -- rather than doing any real harm. You likely have many friends and more than a few admirers and would make an excellent leader, if you had any interest in being one. But, being a leader would require hard work and attention to detail, both qualities you are lacking in. In fact, if you are not careful, your laid-back attitude will often lead you to drift through life completely oblivious to the changes happening around you. You also tend to have a horrible sense of direction.

From BBC News
Police give lollipops to drinkers
Lollipops are being handed out in south Worcestershire over the weekend in an effort to calm down rowdy revellers.

West Mercia Police are distributing the sweets as drinkers emerge from pubs and clubs in Evesham and Worcester.

The lollipops are being handed out in the hope that have a soothing effect on any aggressive members of the public.

The unusual crime reduction technique is part of Operation Presence, which aims to crack down on alcohol-related violence in the county.

Ch Insp Alan Baldwin said: "Throughout the summer we have been targeting town centres where there are incidents of alcohol-related crime and disorder.

"This operation, however, has been set up alongside our normal policing as traditionally there are more incidents of alcohol-related crime and disorder over the August Bank Holiday weekend."

Operation Presence has been staged on other bank holidays, in summer and winter.

Mood:  Bouncy 5

Happy Weekend Y'all!

Hope you're having a fab weekend, mine has been ok so far!

Hubby had to go into work for two hours this morning so he got up at 8, i got up at 9 after he'd left. I walked up the hill to the shop to get the papers and some stamps cos i got my driving license application back this morning asking to see my birth certificate to verify my maiden name...why my passport couldn't do the same job i don't know!! Also got back the cheque i sent back to the bank...i sent it back cos it was in my maiden name and i can't cash it as my bank account is in my marrried name...so what did they do?

Sent it right back!  Pulling My Hair Outhow dumb is that?!

So i'm in the process of writing a letter to them AGAIN to ask them to send it in the correct name!

I came home from the shop and did the washing up, cleaned the kitchen up and read the papers before hubby came back from work and then we had some lunch. We were watching the Cricket (Ashes Tour England V Australia) for a while, very exciting!

 Cricket

We made the Aussies follow on and Hoggard was first bowler, we're still to get a wicket but i'm pretty sure we'll get one soon!

Well, i'll be off now, catch y'all later on maybe?

Hi to Shel, Mey, Teri, Linda, Pixie and everyone else who reads my blog

Hurrumph!

Hi all

Work was dodgy today, had a woman call up at 5:30pm screaming at me about our Legal Advice team not helping her...it's not like i could do anything cos i'm in Motor Claims and she hasn't even made a claim!! Well, she carried on shouting at me for half an hour until she swore at me three times and told me how incompetant i was so i had to put the phone down...she didn't call back!!

She made me really angry and i was shaking afterwards...had to go and get some air and take some deep breaths!

It's a Bank Holiday here on Monday so we've got a whole three days off for the weekend muhahahaha!! So looking forward to that! I think we're supposed to be shopping for Curtains or other domestic things like that! I'd like to paint our living room but i don't know what colour to do it!

Oooh...I'd like to say thank you to everyone who looked at and commented on my wedding pictures, it's nice that i've been able to share them with you guys...think the family are quite bored with them now!!!

I just had to post this link to the Piano Man mystery. This poor man has been the subject of much media attention recently after he was found wearing a suit with all the labels cut out, soaking wet on the seafront in Sheerness. Please do read...it's amazing how much a story can get twisted around in the media sometimes...there's also a link in my favourites to another news site that has reader comments on the story...fascinating how people think...

Anyways, sorry for such a short one tonight, i'm pretty tired so i'll be off to bed soon...sorry to be a bore! I'll write loads over the weekend i promise!

  Big Hug    to everyone !

Bye bye!

Mood: v.v happy!
Listening to: Radio 5 Live (UK Sports Station!)

Hi, how y'all doin?

Just wanted to drop by and letcha know what i've been up to today!

I'm on lates at work this week so i got up late and strolled down to the train @ 09:45! (Can't wait til i start driving!) Good job i got a lie-in this morning cos i was up for ages last night playing with PSP making banners and things! It's so much fun!! I'm getting good now, hubby even wants to employ me as graphic designer for the website he edits for a football tournament!! Bless !!

Spoke to Shel yesterday, and then she went off and learnt PSP with Mey, she must be a good teacher cos shel picked it up quicker than i did teaching myself! Top stuff Mey and Shel! Oooh, Shel, i looooove the banner you made me, it's so beautiful! I made you something too, i'll put it up somewhere so you can see if you like it!

So, work was pretty boring, was there til 7pm and took a call at the end that went on forever...lady wanted the upholstery in her caravan fixed and we haven't authorised it...v v boring! I got really frustrated cos my work computer crashed in the middle of the call and i had to tell the lady to hold on while i logged into the one next to me...she was none too happy!

We were naughty on the way home and got a Mac D's takeaway for dinner muhaha!

The weather was horrible here today, drizzly and windy, it was so nice when i left for work this morning but it got all dark and cold about lunchtime, not good  Was going to go for a walk and everything...

Oh well, that was my day! I'll be off now to play with PSP some more before bed!

See y'all soon

Saturday

So, as you can see, I’ve been playing with my Blog today!

Made it a bit more funky, added a few bits, changed some colours etc…what do you think? I’ve downloaded PSP 9 and I’m gonna have a go at making a funky banner for the top...not sure how to go about putting it in with CSS but I’ll think about that when I get there!

Filled in the forms for my provisional driving license this evening, going to startdriving lessons very soon! I can’t wait!

Went into town this morning for a bit, it was very busy. Looked around a few places for something nice to wear to my Father in Law’s wedding, no luck though Thinking I’d like to wear a dress but nothing really jumped out at me as something I’d like. May have to go for the top and skirt thing, something like a corset top maybe with a flowing skirt

Oooh, I’ve put some photos up in my album, the link is here haven’t got much on there yet, and you’ll have to excuse the front page full of blinkies! I downloaded them, put them onto here and then realised I shoulda put them into a lil folder of their own before doing it! I’ll sort them out one day. If you follow the link for my wedding folder you can have a look at the photos from our big day. Some of them are a bit dodgy, and there’s some really nice ones…let me know what you think!

This is me y’all - thought you might want to see what i look like!! Ok, so you can't really see my face...if you really want to know what my ugly mug is like then visit my album!

I LOVED my dress! Wish I could wear it again  *sigh*

oh well, must be off...be sure to come back now, ya hear?!

love to y'all *hug*

Monday and the Weekend!

Mood: missing my friend :(

So, had a cool weekend J

We drove to Bournemouth on Saturday morning, spent 5 hours in the car…it usually only takes two and half / three hours! Was quite hot too, not good!

We had a good weekend though once we got there. We went out to the pub for a few drinks on Saturday evening and spent some time with hubby’s mum on Sunday before driving back again. She made us a lovely chicken casserole and we had strawberries and ice cream for desert…yummy!

Went back to work today, I hate Mondays!! We kept the phone stats up though, 99% when I left this evening! I’m doing a late tomorrow so I get a bit of a lie in, getting the train instead of going in with the guys, will be quite refreshing I think!

Hubby’s got to go and have a blood test tomorrow, I wish I could go with him cos he doesn’t like needles at the best of times, but on his own…he’s got to drive back from the hospital afterwards as well, I’m a bit worried…but i’m sure he’ll be fine!

I’m doing the G.I Diet at the moment, very good actually. I’ve lost nearly 10 lbs so far which is great, I started off at 13 stone (It’s mostly all on my thighs) and I feel really good! I wonder if anyone else is doing well on the G.I?

Got really frustrated yesterday, I’ve lost an email address and telephone number for a friend of mine that I haven’t spoken to in ages. I really wanted to send him an email yesterday and catch up but I can’t L Does anyone know of an email directory thing like the yellow pages where I could try and find him?

Oh well, I’ll be off now…oh, I’ll try and change my music soon, I haven’t had a chance…hubby moans every time on Blogigo as it makes his game run slow or something! It’s hard to find a minute where he’s not playing! We’ve got a Digital Radio upstairs now so we have to listen to the Football instead of watching it on the TV so I don’t even get 90 minutes anymore!!

Thought for the day: Don’t take your friends for granted…you’ll miss them when they’re gone.

Aug 11, 2005 at 22:35 o\clock

Thursday

So, had a day off yesterday, I was ill L I got into work today and had to have a ‘Back To Work’ interview thing where they assess if you’re okay to be back at work (I know…I was only off for one day!) and whether you’ve got a pattern of absence. They told me that they remembered that I’d had flowers delivered to me at work on Monday and they wondered if they were for a celebration and if we had gone out on Tuesday night and drank (And had a hangover – hence not coming into work…) I was insulted to be honest, do they think I value my job that much that I go out and get drunk on weeknights? I don’t even go out and drunk at the weekends!!

Everyone was talking about the next work social event today, I get quite annoyed actually because they never ask me if I’m thinking of going…I don’t go out with the people from work, they all go out and get drunk (Amongst other things) on a Friday night and bi*ch about each other for the next week, it’s just not me. The social events can be a laugh though, I’ve only been to one, but it was fun!

It’s like I’m old and boring (I’m one of the older people at work, the ones that go out are 18 to 20ish) cos I’m married and I live further away from work than everyone else and I don’t like going out and getting completely trollied…they just don’t want to know and it bugs me L

My idea of a good night is to go to the pub with my friends and have a few drinks and a chat, not get completely battered and stagger off to a club at 3 in the morning! Don’t get me wrong, I used to do that, when I was at Uni and I lived with the girls, but now… I’ve nothing against people enjoy that sort of thing, it’s just not for me anymore! God, I sound old! Does anyone else get what I mean? Or am I really being too ‘old – minded’?!

Song lyric for the day:

“Everybody sails alone,

But we can travel side by side.

Even if you fail,

You know that no one really minds.

Come over here lady,

Let me wipe your tears away,

Come a little nearer baby,

Cos you’ll heal over, heal over, heal over someday.

Don't hold on but don't let go,

I know it's so hard.

You've got to try to trust yourself,

I know it's so hard.”

Tuesday

So, quite a boring day today really! Got up, went to work, worked, came home!

Yesterday my lovely hubby surprised me by sending me a HUGE bouquet of flowers to work, they’re currently sat on our living room table in three vases looking beautiful! He said he just wanted to cheer me up because I sounded down when he called me at lunchtime…bless him J

Heard that the Space Shuttle landed safely today, I was worried they might have to put it off for another day after the weather changed…I couldn’t imagine being stuck up there in space away from my family for 13 days, and not knowing if I would see them again, that would be tough. The views from up there must be fantastic though!

Got sick of the team leaders shouting every time there was a call waiting today. We have a big plasma screen on the wall that shows us how many incoming calls we have taken, the percentage we answered within 20 secs and how many we have waiting to be picked up, every time we lose a call (i.e. the customer puts the phone down) we drop by a percentage, we left on 94% this evening L At one point we had 5 calls waiting!

There’s a system in place at the moment where half the team are off the phones in the morning, then we swop over and the other half are off in the afternoon, today I was off after lunch. Before I went for lunch we had kept the call stats at 98% all morning but after lunch we dropped 4%…everyone knows that the call stats are affect if we get our monthly bonus but people were still putting their phones on DND…dodgy!

Anyways, catch you guys tomorrow, I’m off to chill out before another day of phone madness…I’ll try and take some photos to show you soon, what would you want to see??

Thought for the day: “You’re Beautiful, You’re beautiful it’s true” (For all the ladies out there!)

Aug 7, 2005 at 17:19 o\clock

Ouch!

So...just cut my thumb with a knife while cutting a piece of cake, it stings

Hubby is watching football downstairs, he's just reminded me that the new season starts next weekend...doh! I'll become a football widow again for the next 8 months or so then shall i?!

We went for our Sunday walk up the hill to get the Sunday Papers this morning, lovely weather, was sunny and just the right temperature, we walk past a farm shop, they've got a mini orchard that you can see from the path and the trees are dripping with apples! Yummy!

It struck me today, reading both papers (The Mail *My choice* and Mirror *for the hubby*) how is it that they manage to cover the same events but have such contrasting stories?

For example, The Mail, reporting on the death of Robin Cook "Mrs Cook was so confused that when asked if she was Mr Cook's next of kin, allowing her to travel on aboard the air ambulance, she said no," and the Mirror "Due to lack of space in the Air Ambulance, Mrs Cook was escorted down the mountain by the Police and driven to the hospital."  Two completely different takes on the same event...

We always buy two newspapers, never one, and now i can see why! Buying one paper can completely distort a person's view of an event just in the way that it reports it, and then we can read a second paper, and the story changes. It's probably something to do with my Uni Degree in English in Communication that i notice these things, after all, it was drummed into us! (Thanks Stephen!)

It's our anniversary today, three months of being married! Seems like ages ago that i was stood there in my big white dress...i loved that dress, i'll have to put a pic on here when we get them back...

In answer to Shel by the way...my birthday is 22nd December, way too close to christmas for my liking but hey! Hubby's is 7th December so we're quite close...busy month for pressies!

Saturday

So...Saturday today! :D

Saw a bloke washing his car in a suit last night at the Tesco's CarWash...how random is that?! It reminded me of the song by Cheryl Crow, "All I Wanna Do." "We are drinking beer at noon on tuesday, in a bar that faces a giant car wash. The good people of the world are washing their cars, on their lunch break, hosing and scrubbing, as best they can in skirts in suits"

I don't get it...why not wait until you get home?!

Our Team Leader left yesterday, decided she'd had enough of the office politics, shame, she was one of the good ones :(

Got a good weekend planned, not much to do, just a few loads of washing, some cleaning, make a cake and generally just chill out for the rest of the weekend. We've got a busy one next weekend, we have to go to Bournemouth and pick up our final wedding photos. It took ages to pick 40 out of the 200 that were taken! It'll take three hours to drive to bournemouth but it'll be worth it, i love the place!

We've got hubby's dad's wedding to go to at the end of september in bournemouth...gonna go out any buy a new outfit sometime soon! I love shopping for clothes and shoes, in fact it seems that i buy a new pair of shoes every month!

Office Moves

So, work today was quite boring really!

We all got moved around again, I’m at my 6th desk since working there…oh well, I guess I should be glad I’m sitting with people I know really, others weren’t so lucky!

I get a lift into work every day with a bunch of guys, all talkative when we’re in the car, but when we get to work…silence, they don’t say a word to me during the day, what’s with that? I just can’t figure them out, one minute we’re discussing last night’s TV and as soon as we get to work…blanked…strange

Anyways, the whole office is moaning about the moving about, everyone has moved away from their friends (I think it’s a tactic from the managers to move us all about every few months, keeps us ‘focused’) The call stats were up to 98% again today though, I think because everyone was making a statement by not talking to anyone around them to show how p***ed they are at being moved! Shows the managers have the right idea really I guess!

Personally, I don’t care where I’m sat, I don’t have really close friends at work and I get on with everyone on my department so I’m not really bothered…I’ve been there longer than at least 90% of them so I’ve seen them as newbies and upwards really!

I'm Amy, i'm 22.

I'm recently married (Three Months) and hubby and I live in Sturry near Canterbury, Kent. I work for a  insurance company in an office in Broadstairs...very un interesting!

That's me really! I'm a little shy  i'm new at this bogging malarky so i'll keep it short for now!
