Growing Sims

Some brief updates coming up.

Dane Tuborg finally became an adult.

He grew up badly cos he was a lazy bastard and never did anything and nobody gave him what he wanted.

The homework had piled up...

Just after Dane grew up, Heinrich died, age 72.

Sonique was devastated.

Meanwhile, Tracey Landgraab from Bluewater village had moved in with Jean-Paul after dropping out of college.  There are no sparks between them yet.  Ironically, Tracey is now living in the house that Jerome was born in.  (Tracey and Jerome's story is here.)

While on the subject of Jerome, he and Lakeesha Love are in the same dorm as Jan (daughter of Dan).

They both had their first kiss.

Heinrich Tuborg is now an elder - his nose is definitely bigger.  Sonique will be an elder in a couple of days. 

Heinrich before becoming an elder.  He lost his job and was looking for another.  I think he's quite a "hunk o' spunk", as Kath Day-Knight would say ("Kath and Kim").

Johnson, Heinrich's former flatmate, and Carla?, Heidi's former flatmate, lived together across the road.  They got to like each other enough to woohoo and Carla got pregnant.  She had a boy - Jerome.  Unfortunately they both ignored him and he was taken away when he was a toddler.  I'm not sure how, but I killed them off - they bored me.

I felt it was time to head over to Dan's house as I hadn't done much with him and all his contemporaries are just about elders.  I didn't even realise he wasn't married (only engaged) to Veronica Go. 

Anyway, Veronica was still angry with Dan for catching him cheating (and he isn't stopping).

Veronica now wanted kids, but wasn't going to give Dan the satisfaction of woohooing or anything.  She rang up the adoption agency.  Dan wasn't too pleased so he spent the next few days at his bookshop, building up custom.

I think Dan is a bit of a 'hunk o' spunk' too.

The day arrived and Veronica chose a toddler.  Who should it be but Jerome, son of Johnson and Carla.  Dan spent even more time at the bookshop.  Veronica didn't seem too enamoured of her new 'son'.  It was then I discovered that it was her son and not both, because they weren't married.  Anyway, she didn't look after him and the poor kid got taken away again.

Dan and Veronica seemed much happier after that.  Perhaps Veronica got it out of her system or pissed off Dan enough.  Anyway they woohooed and then Dan proposed marriage and they married then and there. 

Veronica still wanted a kid, it seemed, so they tried about three times and finally she got pregnant.

She's just had the child - a girl called Jan.  (I thought it was time for rhyming names again.)

Mariane's death reminded Genieve that her life was finite.  She wanted a party, so she invited mainly family around.  She retired from her crummy job of Rookie at the bottom end of the athletic career and invited people around.  Jonathan, who only recently became an elder, went off to work.

"You inviting your family around?  I have to go to work..."

Unfortunately, Genieve was still in her undies when the party started.  Here she is talking to grandson, Jean-Paul, poor guy, while Jonathan looks on with disapproval (at Genieve or her grandson?).

Dane wanted to play a game with Heinrich, but he refused and turned away.

Even as a child he was being ignored.  He had a little tantrum but no-one cared.

So he decided to dance to the jazz music...

ignoring everyone else in turn.

Genieve got dressed and played with Jean-Paul.  Dane continued dancing...

and dancing.

He kept dancing when everyone else was watching kicky ball...

and continued dancing when everyone else was tired out.

Man he loves that jazz.

After a while he got fed up and had another tantrum,

and still no-one cared.  After that everyone left.

Sonique had spent most of the time upstairs playing chess.

Genieve watched the last of them go, exhausted.  Sonique followed Raoul Champignon out the door.

When everyone had left, Jonathan timed it right to return home from work.

Sonique's not much of a mother.  The toddler, Jean-Paul's cot was in the kitchen in an open plan house with the lounge at the front of the house and Heinrich loved playing heavy metal music, so the child never got any sleep.  Once let out, he could find somewhere else to crash.

Despite the neglect, Jean-Paul grew into a child - prone to tantrums naturally.

But Sonique was bored, especially when Heinrich (who tended to play drums all the time anyway) was at work, so she secretly met old flame, Dan.  She still dreamed of Jean-Philippe but he was no longer interested.

They 'woohooed' in the car and more.  Sonique was now pregnant with Dan's child.

I've totally missed writing about Jasmine who had a visit from Dan as well - they also knew each other at uni.  Jasmine gave birth to Dan's illegitimate daughter, Danielle, who is now a toddler.

Dan's complexion is a little darker than Sonique's or Heinrich's so you'd think Heinirich would be a bit suspicious about a darker than white baby with gingery brown hair...  Not that Heinrich interracts with the kids much anyway.

Mariane Maniere was now an elder and her husband, Victor, flirting with younger females everywhere.  Fairly neglected sister, Genieve, had to age as well, so over to her place where she invited her daughter and grandchildren over.

and has a chat with older grandson, terror Jean-Paul. 

Heinrich doesn't seem to think much of his (rather sexy) mother-in-law.  They don't get on.

So Genieve has a cuddle of the baby.  Husband, Jonathan, is out at work and wanted to stay clear of Sonique and family anyway.

(Looking and wondering, perhaps...?)  Sonique's reputation confirmed.

So the family decide to go home... but they left the baby!

Genieve was unable to pick it up unless it was hungry.  So it lay around stinking and sleeping.  Occasionally Genieve would feed it.  Very odd.  She tried inviting Sonique back and then Sonique and Heinrich, but neither of them would pick up the stinky baby.  I wonder how long it'll stay with them?  When I go back to Sonique's house, the baby is there.  I'll let you know what happens!

Heinrich doesn't much care, it seems.  He spends his spare time playing drums.

Meanwhile, Leo has left Helen, just before she was about to give birth.  He moved into a small house that Raoul used to live in and invited Gretchen to move in with him.  She did.

Sonique organised for her wedding to Heinrich Tuborg.  She made sure she had a white dress and that Heinrich had suitable attire.  She got flowers for the garden and the wedding arch (facing the right way!) and seating.  It was all go.  Heinrich was due to start his new job that day (a Saturday too) but he didn’t go – no repeat of the Collie situation.  Invited guests included her aunt Mariane, Victor, her mother Genieve, Akiko Takahashi, Dan, the Ebadi boy she snogged in front of J-P and Dan while at university, Carla, and Johnson.  J-P was not invited.

The wedding went off well, but there are warning bells as Sonique thinks of Dan during the ceremony, while Heinrich is only thinking of Sonique as you can see. 

(Where the hell is Victor going with the cake?  I don't think anyone got any!)

They went on honeymoon, came back and immediately “woohooed”. 

But Sonique (now Sonique Tuborg) is now pregnant.  What sort of mother will she be?

I got ahead of myself in the last post, as Ken didn't move in with Karla until after Sonique left and I haven't mentioned Sonique for a while.

Sonique had moved in with Karla after finishing uni.  Karla, you may remember, was an ex-flatmate of Heidi who is now Jean-Philippe's live-in girlfriend.  Dan, the philosophy man, was now married and owned the local bookshop, so that left Sonique without a lover.  Lucky for her a couple of new guys moved in - a blond guy called Heinrich and a black guy called Johnson.  She got to know them pretty quickly as they lived next door.  I thought Johnson would be a good match for Karla, but he's lazy and fat and she's not into fat guys.  I didn't realise I'd made him lazy but trying to get him to work out is pretty damned difficult.  So yeah, the blond guy was in Sonique's sights.

Yeah so Karla was alone again until Ken moved in and moved out. 

Sonique's mother, Genieve, married Jonathan Ternynck(?) in a quick ceremony at home.

Over in Academie Le Tour, Sonique appeared to have forgotten about Jean-Philippe, and had her sights on Dan, the philosophy man.  They hadn't quite got to the bedroom yet and besides those dorm rooms aren't quite big enough for a double bed.  She did surprisingly well at university (drama was her major) and managed to keep up with enough assignments and skills to breeze through.  Well, there you go - I misjudged her.

She had a sports party one night and invited her mother and aunt and a few others, including J-P.  J-P went off and watched TV while Sonique was dancing with Dan.  She later went over and hugged and kissed him and Dan caught them at it and slapped Sonique silly.  He stormed off and J-P must have had a little inkling then...  Later on in the evening, J-P caught her snogging one of the Ebadi boys and got angry.  So that was that, really.

He introduced her to his dad, Raoul, and invited her to stay the night.  I'm not sure where she slept but she turned up in the morning wearing undies.  The apartment kitchen is more trouble than it's worth.  Even the nanny has started using it to feed her face.  So, after Heidi agreed to move in, the kitchen had to go.  The spare spa pool went in that room instead.

The Champignon twins, meanwhile, seemed to get on better and Pierre did his homework.  They've just reached teen-hood.

It's amazing what these Sims get up to when you're not controlling them. I thought it was about time I got boyfriends for the Maniere sisters who were still young compared to their contemporaries. Sonique was in danger of catching up to them. Well I needn't have worried. In my absence it seemed that Mariane had got to know, and fall in love with, Victor Lillard, or near enough that I didn't have to do much to seal the deal. He wasn't the best looking guy for Mariane. I'd hoped for someone a bit better looking since she is attractive. Maybe it was his money... Anyway, it didn't take much persuasion to get Victor to move in and it was only when a helicopter arrived that I realised he was a business tycoon and pretty loaded. No wonder Mariane had her eyes on him. Genieve didn't really see the attraction but could understand the financial aspect considering the house they lived in was a dump. Victor, naturally, couldn't bear to live in such a house and as soon as he got back from work, he and Mariane moved away to a grand house at the other end of Veronaville.

Mariane was so overcome with its grandeur that she proposed to Victor on the spot and he agreed. There was an old graveyard beside the house. The headstones were swiftly moved over to Bluewater cemetery. Once the house had been decorated and furnished to their satisfaction, Victor invited the wedding guests and they got married the very next day. Talk about whirlwind romances on this game!

The bride is fashionably late.  There's a trend here for evening weddings!

That left Genieve at home alone but it seemed that she too had got to know a guy called Jonathan Ternynck. He wasn't much of a looker either but good enough for Genieve I suppose. Who was I to argue when they'd done all the work? A similar thing happened. Genieve invited Jonathan round the next day but he brought a friend with him who he seemed to lust after... She wasted no time in asking him to move in and he said yes without hesitation. The seedy little house was no good for them either, even though Jonathan is just a paramedic. Genieve sold off the junk, kept anything she treasured, and they moved to a two-bedroomed house nearer to Mariane. No wedding bells in the air just yet.

Poor old Gerd, in comparison, has found romance such a struggle and remains single to this day. His hopes to woo Mariane never came to anything and here she was married off to the local rich guy. He had aged rapidly in any case and is now 61. Adopted daughter, Jasmine has moved to college. He'll be lonely once again. Perhaps I should try and find him an old widow or make a new one for him. I do feel sorry for him. He's a bit of a failure.

I worked on the Maniere family last night.  Sent Sonique off to college and got her out of the house.  With a C grade she was able to get a scholarship.  Mariane was glad to see her go after she spent most of the remaining money on clothes, an MP3 player and a cellphone.  This was just after they'd bought a rusty little car too.  Luckily for the remaining two family members - Mariane and Genieve, the money cheat provided them with an additional 50,000.  So Mariane splashed out on some pictures and nice lamps - last of the big spenders.  She went off to the recently renovated Veronaville market and met Gerd at the restaurant.  I wondered why, although they appeared to chat quite happily, that there were no sparks.  Then I discovered that one of her turn-offs was blond hair.  Oh dear, changed that with a drink of Port-o-Chug or whatever it's called.  Now blond hair is a turn-on.

Gerd's grown fat so we'll have to get him onto an exercise regime.  Luckily Mariane didn't have 'fat' as a turnoff.
