This blog is like a diary of my Sims, referring to the game Sims 2 for those who don't know. I haven't been playing Morrowind lately and only recently got Sims 2 so that's my latest addiction, when I have time.
So who are these Sims and why "Growing Sims". Well Sims 2 Sims do grow - from a 'try for a baby' decision by a couple to babyhood, toddler, child, teen, college age, adult and elder. I have a few families in 3 neighbourhoods, but only get time to concentrate on one or two. The families are:
In Veronaville:
The Collie family. Weird surname but the girl in the family was named after a Smashing Pumpkins CD sitting in front of me at the time - Mellon Collie. She's now a college student. Her parents are Manon and Shannon. She has a teenage brother called Ben (unoriginal I know) and their baby brother, Steven, is on the verge from growing from toddler to child. The parents love making babies but are not very attentive parents, sad to say. The family started with Mellon being a teenager and Ben a toddler. She moved to college just as Ben became a teen and shortly afterwards Steven was born. The mother, Shannon, doesn't work and Manon is a small-time crook. Mellon is studying psychology at college and is still in her sophomore year (these American terms are strange to me, even though I've heard them from American movies). She just moved out of a dorm into her own small apartment, but she's finding it lonely and is considering moving back to a dorm (this time remembering to take her possessions with her!).
The Maniere family. I haven't done much with this family - Mariane lives with her sister, Genieve and Genieve has a slutty teenage daughter called Sonique. Not much happening there at the moment.
The Stein family. Gerd Stein is a bearded German who lives on his own and is hoping to get to know Mariane better. He's working up the political ladder.
The Champignon family. Raoul Champignon is a long-haired blond Frenchman who lived with his teenage blond son, Jean-Philippe (who attracts all the girls). Jean-Philippe is naturally a bit of a party-animal and doesn't study much. His father, Raoul, recently fell in love with a beautiful dark-haired woman he met downtown, called Katelyn. They had a very successful date at the bowling alley and he proposed engagement, then asked her to move in. She brought a fair bit of money with her and they were able to move into a larger house. The house has taken quite a bit of redecoration, the adding of a pool, and, naturally, some planning for the wedding in the garden. She was very particular about the house and garden decor, was Katelyn.
In Strangetown:
Patrick Murphy, who lives on his own. He's recently got to know a Russian guy living nearby and is making friends with him. Not much happening here lately but he recently had a rather boring party, despite adding a pool and heaps of food and music.
Kruschev Vos is the Russian guy in question. He looks like a nasty bit of work - thin and dark, tattoed and mean. He seems to get on ok with Patrick though.
In Pleasantville(?):
Only one family here, I think - a poor family of three children - a boy and twin girls. Gordon and Winette Random and their son, Nigel, and daughters Enid and Hortensia. The name Random refers to the way I chose their names and the way I chose how they look. They're all a bit close to starvation because the husband doesn't bring in much money and feeding all those kids takes time and effort. They still want another child though. I'm wondering how soon it will be before Social Services comes to take one of the kids away. This family replaced the Flarb family who moved out because they were just too ugly. (I binned them after moving them out.)
I have a feeling there is another family here, probably only just created, but I can't remember details since I haven't done anything with them yet.

. She's now a 'Junior', which seems weird to me - that's like third year? How can a third year be a junior? I don't understand this terminology but never mind.
