Scientology in the United Kingdom

Every October for the past 12 years or more Mr. David Miscavige has come to England to celebrate the anniversary of the founding of the International Association of Scientologists (IAS).

The event is held at Saint Hill Manor, where L. Ron Hubbard lived in the 1960's and where he did a tremendous amount of his research into the spirit and life.

Saint Hill was also the site of the formation of the IAS in October 1984.

The Scientology religion has come an amazing distance in the 21 years since the IAS was founded, in no small part due to the IAS.

The IAS Anniversary Event is held in the Great Hall at Saint Hill - a modern-day castle in East Grinstead, Sussex.  At this event we honor Scientologists who are selected to be IAS Freedom Medal Winners for their outstanding humanitarian work.

Mr. Miscavige emcees the event and often presents one of the medals.  This year he presented the final medal to Mr. Tom Cruise.

Thousands of Scientologists from the UK and Europe and around the world converge on this quite southern English town for the weekend of events, which usually includes a charity concert, a ball for those Scientologists who are patrons of the IAS, and, of course, the main event - the briefing by Mr. David Miscavige, Chairman of the Board of Religious Technology Center, and executives of the Church of Scientology International and the presentation of the Freedom Medals.

As August is now upon us, it reminded me of the fact that the event is only a few months away, and I need to start making my plans to be there!
