Something CAN be done about world conditions

I've been a Scientologist for many years.  From studying the works of  L. Ron Hubbard I've gained a much better understanding of why people behave as they do.

I know that the crime, war and poverty we are surrounded with is NOT a necessary condition.

People CAN change.  The social and personal conditions that underlie crime and even terrorism CAN be addressed and handled.  Sure it will take a lot of work but when you have the technology to improve conditions it is just a matter of applying it exactly.  Fortunately L. Ron Hubbard did research and developed that technology -- it is called Scientology applied religious philosophy.    And also, thanks to the diligence of Religious Technology Center, headed by Mr. David Miscavige, that technology has remained pure and exact and so it does continue to work.

Here is a success story I found on the web site of Criminon, the social betterment program supported by Churches of Scientology and using the technology of L. Ron Hubbard

This is a personal account by a prison inmate on how his experience with L. Ron Hubbard's works, through the Criminon program, has restored to him the self-respect he needed to leave behind a criminal past and adopt a moral code that includes the respect of others and their property:

Dear Criminon,

I cannot thank you enough for the opportunity to enroll in and be a participant in the Criminon Rehabilitation Program. “The Way to Happiness” extension course has been for me an eye-opening, life-changing experience, and one which has blessed my personal life and well-being tremendously. Never in all the years of my incarceration have I been moved to again hope and believe in the future, or inspired to change, truly, truly change as I have now been so moved and inspired to do, in order to become a better, brighter and far more benevolent person. The many precepts taught and promoted within this course are not only vital to my own peace of mind and peaceful interaction with prison life, but are also invaluable to me making it successfully out in the streets. And to think that I’ve only just begun to engage upon this newfound path and journey. So I am excited about all that the future holds in store for me. For me, two words define clearly the overall message of “The Way to Happiness” extension course: Truth and Love. Truth to oneself and honest interaction with our fellow man, Love of life and love for the world we live in and love towards our fellow man, but even more importantly that we love ourselves. Again, Thank You, Criminon.

Sincerely, S.O

Mr. David Miscavige Presides at International Events

Throughout the world  Scientology churches  have major events every few months.  These events are held and videoed at one of our churches and then aired  in each Scientology church and mission.  One of these events is for New Years.  But the rests are to commemorate events that are unique to the Scientology religion.

One such event is the celebration of L. Ron Hubbard's birthday.  Although Mr. Hubbard died in 1986, the entire religion is based on the application of the truths he discovered about life, the spirit and mankind and we celebrate his birthday to honor the work he did.

Mr. Miscavige  is usually the guest speaker at these events, and he generally covers some of the most outstanding achievements of the past year in the application of  L. Ron Hubbard's works to improving life and society.

Church of Scientology of Spain

Last fall Mr.David Miscavige  officiated at the grand opening of the new Church of Scientology of Spain.

This was a fabulous event.

And the church is absolutely stunning.

I'm sure Mr. Miscavige was very proud of the church, as I know he is so intent on helping this country, with its rich history of culture and art.

Celebrity Centre Gala

Last night was the annual Celebrity Centre Gala at Celebrity Centre International in Hollywood.

Last year Mr. David Miscavige was the guest speaker at this event, and he took the opportunity to explain what Scientology is, and went through not only all the programs the Church sponsors to improve conditions in society, but also the basic philosophy and beliefs of Scientology and why we have a Celebrity Centre.

Scientology technology  isn effective and improves conditions in life and helps the individual gain awareness, self determinism and freedom as a being.

When people ask me about Scientology (and that happens a lot) I always suggest they read a book.  But since Mr. Miscavige recorded the speech he gave at last year's Gala I also recommend they watch it.  It is available on DVD and can be purchased online through the bookstore at www.scientology.org.

Scientology Volunteer Ministers

I was happy to see the Scientology Volunteer Ministers  pitch in and help in the aftermath of the London Bombings.  England is remarkable in time of crisis: very level-headed and so capable of coping with adversity fast and efficiently.  But that doesn't mean there isn't stress or that people aren't badly affected personally.

So the fact that VMs were out in the streets helping people who were upset, distributing food and water, helping the emergency workers with anything they needed -- that's something I'm quite proud of.

On the other hand I'm so relieved that there has been no further need for this kind of assistance for the past two weeks!

Mr. David Miscavige and the Church of Scientology of Buffalo

I have several friends from Buffalo New York.  It's an interesting cross between small town and big city, between East Coast and Mid-West.

The last time I was in Buffalo was more than 30 years ago, and it was a dying city.  It had been built up in the Erie Canal heyday when the main method of shipping goods to the mid-west and the west was by boat from New York City, up through the Hudson River to the Erie Canal and on to the Great Lakes, Mississippi River route to St. Louis and beyond.

This industry died with the advent of the train and the truck.

Next came Buffalo's Steel era -  every major steel company had a plant in or around Buffalo, and when I was last there it was slag-central USA.

The steel plants poured their industrial contamination directly into Lake Erie which simply died.  It supported nothing but algae.

So stringent regulations were passed and the steel companies moved their factories to the third world.

Now Buffalo is experiencing a new revival, and the Church of Scientology of Buffalo is an integral part of that.

Scientology has solutions to education, crime, administrative know-how that people can apply to any area of life and a spiritual technology where the individual can gain awareness of himself and his brotherhood with life.

And the new Church of Scientology of Buffalo,  which was dedicated by Mr. David Miscavige, Chairman of the Board of Religious Technology Center.

Here's an article I found, about this event:

New Church of Scientology Opens on Main Street in Buffalo

Amid a marching band, balloons, confetti and a massive ribbon, Church officials, local dignitaries and celebrities opened the new home of the Church of Scientology of Buffalo November 16, 2003, with Mayor Anthony Masiello proclaiming “Church of Scientology of Buffalo Day.”

The new building, the former Buffalo Catholic Institute at Virginia and Main streets, was purchased by the Church in December 2002 and renovated with 50,000 volunteer hours by parishioners from Buffalo and other states and countries. One guest at the opening described it as “truly a showplace of the practical, spiritual methods you have to offer.”

Attending the ceremony were 1,400 well-wishers, including City Council members who praised the Church’s social betterment programs, preservationists pleased that the Church had breathed life into not just the building but also the neighborhood, and celebrities Billy Sheehan, renowned rock bassist and Buffalo native, and TV and film actress Jenna Elfman.

Senior Scientology executive David Miscavige, Chairman of the Board of Religious Technology Center, custodian of the religious Scripture of Scientology, addressed the assembly, noting that the true significance is not the “monument” but how it serves as a center “to bring the help this world so desperately needs.”  >>

Scientology in the United Kingdom

Every October for the past 12 years or more Mr. David Miscavige has come to England to celebrate the anniversary of the founding of the International Association of Scientologists (IAS).

The event is held at Saint Hill Manor, where L. Ron Hubbard lived in the 1960's and where he did a tremendous amount of his research into the spirit and life.

Saint Hill was also the site of the formation of the IAS in October 1984.

The Scientology religion has come an amazing distance in the 21 years since the IAS was founded, in no small part due to the IAS.

The IAS Anniversary Event is held in the Great Hall at Saint Hill - a modern-day castle in East Grinstead, Sussex.  At this event we honor Scientologists who are selected to be IAS Freedom Medal Winners for their outstanding humanitarian work.

Mr. Miscavige emcees the event and often presents one of the medals.  This year he presented the final medal to Mr. Tom Cruise.

Thousands of Scientologists from the UK and Europe and around the world converge on this quite southern English town for the weekend of events, which usually includes a charity concert, a ball for those Scientologists who are patrons of the IAS, and, of course, the main event - the briefing by Mr. David Miscavige, Chairman of the Board of Religious Technology Center, and executives of the Church of Scientology International and the presentation of the Freedom Medals.

As August is now upon us, it reminded me of the fact that the event is only a few months away, and I need to start making my plans to be there!
