Its been a while........................

by: PhilW

Mood: reflective
Listening to: a lathe machining impellor wheels

It has been a long time since I last posted and thought it was a waste of time until someone reminded me that people do actually read what I drone on about!

Since I last wrote I have been to the beautiful Greek Island of Crete for my summer vacation- a trully wonderful time was had by one and all- the only thing that spoilt it was coming back here to the factory!

I am now planning a late break for a week to Portugal, it will break up the monotony of the long haul between summer and Xmas.

My son has now moved to Manchestere with his girl friend and we miss him like I never expected- he was a pain in the ass but I wish he was still about us. He has grown up very quickly in the past few months - from student to hard working career minded health worker.

More tomorrow- bye now.

Over half way!

by: PhilW

Its over half way through my shift now and its been a really quiet night, existing on coffee and cigarettes- not a great life style but it does for me. For those who wish to know, my son is actually my step son by definition (but I consider him my son) He has just moved to Manchester which is roughly 100 miles away to start his new job. He is working for the Health Service as a manager doing some work on patient waiting lists. Question- Does anyone else listen to The Beautiful South or am I the only person still buying their CDs!!! and if you're not why not!!!

Monday Night

by: PhilW

Mood: Cheerful
Listening to: the drone of machines in the factory

Its Monday night shift and the monotony of work starts again, people with problems and machines that break down. The drone of machinery is all I can hear so as requested here are my likes and dislikes... Likes; Smoking-(how antisocial am I). Drinking cold lager in the garden. Driving fast. Listening to Coldplay and The Beautiful South. Watching The Godfather. Playing Backgammon. My 9yr old niece and my son who is now more independent and successful than I will probably ever be. Dislikes. People who tell me not to smoke! People who bomb my country's capital. Having no money when all my bills are paid. Running out of cold lager. Working Night Shift. People who can think of only reasons why things can fail not ways to make them succeed.

Poorly written emails

by: PhilW

It is just turned 2.30am and its still too hot!!

I work in a foundry as the night shift manager so why am i surprised its hot?

Why do people send me emails that are so poorly done- people dont address them correctly, dont use capital letters at the start of sentences and just generally piss me off with their poor standard of English. Am I too sensitive on this subject?

Does this annoy anyone else?

Thursday 14th July

by: PhilW

Mood: Happy but hot

Thurday 14th July... even though i didnt get home from night shift till 7.00am I only slept until midday. My father-in-law, who is almost as close as if not closer than my father was to me was due at the hospital for his results on his recent cancer of the bladder operation; GREAT NEWS...an excellent chance of no future problems...we are now going on holiday as a family to Crete on the 26th and can enjoy it as we should.
