Work for Money or Pleasure
I wonder how many people actually enjoy their work. I do believe that the majority of people work for money and in order to make a living, rather than because they enjoy spending their time in such a manner. Such methods of work, where people find a way of making money through a hobby or interest may be making cakes, growing flowers, playing football or writing. In fact, I rather envy those who do work for pleasure. Imagine spending your whole day doing something you actually enjoy, rather than working as a means for making money. I have many friends who work all day, in order to pay the bills at the end of the month. Many of us complain about our long working days and wait longingly for the weekend. Is this not wishing the time away? Perhaps if more of us were able to work doing something that we really enjoyed, things would be different. However, the reality of it is that too many people unfortunately have to work for money and not in order to keep themselves occupied.
I do believe that if you enjoy and have a love for your work the making money part - although obviously important - does perhaps become secondary. So what can we do about this? I suppose that for financial reasons - for those of us who need the money, we will just have to carry on working - and as for the things that we enjoy doing, we will leave them aside as pastimes.
