Creating Money
A long time ago, when we were much younger, I remember quite clearly a conversation in our family about money. Well, the actual subject of the discussion was what we thought that we would like to do when we grow up. My brother decided that he wanted to be the one who makes money. Now this is not quite what you may think. Perhaps you may think that this would involve an entrepreneur with an innovative idea who makes his fortune. You would be very wrong - as this was far from the case. What my brother really wanted was to be the person who physically creates or prints the money! I am sure that, as a child, he did not realise what he knows now about printing money.
I remember that he explained to the rest of us that if he could make money - that is print it - then he could make as much as he wanted. This was the way that he saw it anyway. If there was something particular that he wished to buy or if his money had run out - then he could just print more. Nice idea, huh? Unfortunately, as is the case with many of us, his childhood dream never materialised. He never did get to print his own money. However, a few years after this discussion he did become more aware regarding matters of finance and economics and came to understand that one cannot just make one's own money when one wishes!
