You know...JUNO?
Listening to: Aiden
Do you know Juno???
I went and saw that movie today...FINALLY....i've been trying to find someone to go and see it with me ever since it came out....
IT WAS EXCELLENT!!! I love these kind of quirky movies that aren't just a carbon copy of every other movie out there....the vocabulary was awesome, it sort of reminded me of a cross between Dawson's Creek meets Buffy the Vampire Slayer meets Gilmore Girls.....meets Inside the Actor's Studio's James Lipton.... :)....I never knew any sixteen year old who spoke like that (though, I would like to think that I came pretty close in comparison to that platform of wit when I was that age...:P)
....Juno also has good taste in music, I noticed she had a Bad Religion sticker in her locker :)
Plus....I really like Ellen Page...she really seems to have her act together and I can't believe she's my age...or maybe she is a year older...i'm not sure...it's a nice change of pace from today's group of "Young Hollywood"...from the real-life pregnant 16 yr old....to the teeny-bopper's naked pics scandal...to whatever else those crazy kids are getting themselves into....
Anyway....she is a really great actress...not that I know anything about what makes someone great or anything....but, she was very likable in a role that many people would probably not find very favorable....I would hope that all young people who get themselves into this type of predicament would act as mature and responsible as she did, but I don't think that is the case, unfortunately....
Michael Cera...whom I adored in Arrested Development (which should never have been cancelled, in my opinion) and Clark and Michael....was also great. I wanted to give him a hug every time I saw him on the screen, but since that would appear very odd to the other complete strangers in the theatre, I had to restrain myself....ah, if only every guy was a sweet and kind as him :)...or at least as Bleeker....who knows what Cera is like in real life...I'll never find out because I'm never going to get out of this damn town.....ok, I'm losing the topic here....
Juno....two thumbs up, five stars, a perfect "10", and whatever else you can give to show how wonderful something is....
The only problem was that there was a group of kids...actually just these two girls, maybe they were around 15 or 16 (they acted a lot younger!!), who TALKED throughout the entire movie!!! It started the minute they got into the theater...they were laughing way too loudly, they were kicking the seats..and basically providing everyone else in the room with a continous running commentary about what was going on in the movie...they obviously didn't understand the whole point of the film, just kept on making "fat" jokes about Juno...actually extremely immature during the (brief) sex scene (which didn't even show ANYTHING that would merit the response that they had to it... :P). Several people acutally got out of their seats and walked down to their row to tell them to please be quiet...I would have said something a little more forceful, except for the fact that this older couple had basically barricaded us in our row and I didnt feel like having to cause more problems just from me trying to get out into the aisle...the theater staff were called in a few times and they spoke to these girls, as well....but, they really should have jusat kicked them out...that would at least have taught them a lesson AND provided the rest of us with a more enjoyable movie experience...I missed a lot of it because I was continually being distracted by a flying shoe (really!)....a rude hand gesture to the people who were shushing them....and other ridiculous things of that nature....
Don't kids these days have any inkling of respect for others around them (i sound like I'm THAT much older...lol)...I never would have acted this way when I was younger and hanging out with friends...and I still don't act that way....My guess is that their parents dropped them off and they felt like they were free from all authority...that they could do whatever they pleased....well, not only did they piss off everyone else in the theater....but, they just perpetuated the rude teenager stereotype that causes the rest of us who don't do anything wrong to lose out...like, when they banned anyone until the age of 18 from the local mall (unless they had an adult with them...).....I know life's not fair, but it would be a lot easier if people just showed common courtesy...doing that would make life a lot less shitty than it already is....
Back to reality....school starts up again on Tuesday....winter break went by too damn fast and I feel like I didn't do anything constructive :P
Back to the daily grind....essays, projects, research papers...
Back to me tutoring people who really don't see the benefit of passing history...pretty much waste my time when they don't show up to their appointment, after I stay 3 hours after my last class to meet at the time that THEY chose to meet...having to stay up extra late trying to finish up MY assignments after staying for an extra UNPAID session because they "just need more than an hour a week to understand this shit!" Ugh....I'm too damn old for this crap....
On that bright note....
