Just Lil' Ole Boring Me

Terrifying...

I have just finished watching one of the scariest movies I have ever seen....and it isn't even in the horror genre of film....

This film is a documentary called Jesus Camp, and what it is about is the growing evangelical population of the United States....through the preachings of young children who attend this "bible camp" in North Dakota, the filmmakers delve into what is happening to the religious right and how this country is being devided because of religion.....

Watching these young kids speaking in tongues....going into convulsions....condemning those who do not share in their beliefs to an afterlife of misery, was truely frightening....I just could not believe what I was seeing and hearing!

Maybe it's because I'm not a religious person....I don't believe that there is one "right" religion, and I definitely do not like it when people preach to me about how I will burn in the fire and brimstone for enternity  just because I  don't buy what they are saying.

Gosh....just LISTENING to the brainwashing techniques that these ADULTS were using on these impressionable KIDS made me so angry...I actually was yelling at the screen...luckily no one was home...ha ha...they were using mediums that would appeal to kids....movies, music, video games...its just sickening...and I loved it when they were comdemning Harry Potter to death...oh my...you do not want to know what Harry's punishment is going to be... :P From that point on, I knew the pastor lady had a few screws loose....no one messes with my man Harry!!!  Ok...I'm trying to stay open-minded about this, but I guess you just have to watch it to understand my reaction....

There was one main pastor who ran this camp...and what she was saying about how "these children must fight to protect what this country was founded on....etc,etc." (I'm paraphrasing here)...just astounded me....

Kids should be allowed to make their own decisions, and the parents were the worst part of this whole thing...about 75% of evangelical children are home-schooled...their parents don't even let them experience a public school...they never get to meet new and different people...they are only exposed to what their PARENTS want they to see....these kids are ignorant to anything that may open new doors to them....they are trapped in this web of propaganda and extremism....I can't stand it...

What this movie, Jesus Camp, and see for yourself....
