A rare (sucessful) self-timer shot with both of us.  Enjoying a short rest while exploring Kowloon Walled City, up in the Mong Kok area.  The walled city was a fortress through both Chinese & English rule here, but in most recent history was a slum covered with illegal buildings & rampant triad gangs.  In 1994 the goverment decided to tear it down, preserve the antiquities of interest & create a garden for all to enjoy.  This shot is taken in the almshouse where artilery was kept, now has historic information & a chinese teahouse, where we enjoyed a local brew.

Hong Kong at night.  Taken from Anthony Pearce's apartment window - we're looking down on 40 story buildings!  the high rises are built going up the hill which makes the overall effect even more vertigo-inducing!

Afternoon tea - HK has many dessert houses, they really take dessert seriously!  here we decided against the birds nest dessert range & instead had egg custard tart - YUM!  Curly Wade-like hair due to wet humidity & frequent thunderstorms around lunchtime.

Empty shop?  not for long....  this was one of the only untenanted shop spaces we saw & look what had happened since the time it  wasn't actively used! - wonder how long it took?!

Where in the world is Carmen San Diago (well, David Morahan)? Stuck me this could be absolutely anywhere, given the proliferation of this particular American coffee house.  But can't you just smell the satisfaction? - ummmmm 'decent' coffee, airconditioning & an english language newspaper!

Constuction techniques are very different....  this one's for Mat in particular - this is scaffolding made of bamboo roped together.  Each platform jutting out is at 10-storey intervals!  Our guide said it had a lot to do with the heat & that bamboo is better on the workmen's feet (obviously bare feet).

A fitting end to 4 days in Hong Kong " grrrrrrr - must - get - case - closed - before - bus - arrives - for - airport..."
