This is the name of a presentation I am preparing for delivery in my Meetup a  sort of story which will give you, I hope, an insight into the culture of your parents or grand parents, a look into Rome during the years from 1945 onwards.  You will meet Echo the Nymph and a young Italian girl who influenced my life and cured  me of Trauma from seven years of war and three wounds, but this is not a war story it is more a Love Story of this young girl and the Love of Italy and its culture that she instilled in me.

 

To this day over fifty years later Rome to me is something special, very special, I will try to show you expatriots the Italy that you would never find in the guide books that are produced today. The young girl became my wife and we drove down, went down by the Orient express to Milan and then our carriage would be transferred to the Rome Express at least twice a month. We would leave on a Friday and return on Monday, I and a partner from my days of an apprenticeship built three businesses which were bought by American Interests in the early 70’s.

 

Then we built another business, then my wife died in 1979 and I was destroyed, I left my business with my partner to sell and went off to Rome, there I met a Canadian lad in Rome University who was having trouble with the language and asked me to join him and help him, this I did.
