Back to work, not literally!

Well after a nice weekend in Liverpool, it's back to reality. It is half term, but managed to get myself working in the half term playscheme. It's a place where children come when there parents have to work, for a fee of course. We provide activities, a play area, DVD player and TV, as well as playstations, sega and PC's. We even have a quiet room with books where children can just get away from everything. Not bad for a full day at £15.

Well today has been a normal day really, made some toast (had some breakfast) and did a few activities with the children. It was then dinner time, which was easy to handle with seven children. Then for the afternoon we went to the school grounds and had an hour in the freezing cold! After a few grazed knees and black eyes, we decided to make it back to the club house. During the day it was good experience as I was able to observe a child that I observed in my learning in the work setting. He doesn't come under any bracket but can crave attention and if he doesn't get it can promote bad behaviour within himself and others. In a different situation to what I have observed him in before he does act very like he does in the playground, but as he was one of the oldest at the club today, he did act like top dog. I will have to see what he is like tomorrow when there are more children his same age that have a different peer group.

Anyway a good day today and feel good. I have just created my resume in my FirstClass account and met a target by contributing to the online discussions. It would be good to see how the child I observed today will be tomorrow and how his behaviour will differ.

Welcome

Welcome to my weblog for year two of the Ultraversity Degree. Here I am going to hopefully upload thoughts from my day and what I have learned on a daily basis. I am also going to create weekly or monthly polls that can be viewed on the right hand side and you can feel free to vote. As I get more used to the 'weblog' I will let you know what I have learned and perhaps you may see how useful a weblog is. Anyway enough of me now, it's Valentine's Day  today so I am going to spend the day with my girlfriend as she has just finished her lectures. Hope you will visit again soon and enjoy the ups and downs to my daily life!
