Well my aunt is about to fly out of Phoenix

by: Buttercup2   Category: Family News

We just arrived home after dropping off my aunt at the airport. We are both sad to see her go. Our cat Jordan will also be missing her as she treats him like he's a king and they would play 'blankie' every morning. He loves to play with us, lol. I'm not sure, but sometimes, I think he thinks we are also cats, lmao. The other side of that is that we haven't had very many minutes alone for over 6 weeks. So a few quick posts and then off to relax and watch movies, etc :)

We may go to a movie later as well. First some much needed cuddle time.

Hugs and Peace,
Aly

Cheesecake factory tonight

by: Buttercup2   Category: Friends   Keywords: cheesecake, factory, friends

Well my aunt and another friend of ours went out to dinner tonight at the Cheesecake Factory after hubby got out of work. It was great fun and good food. We were too full to have a full slice of cheesecake so we split 2 between the 4 of us. That is sooooo sooooo rich!

We stopped in at Barnes and Nobles and my aunt picked up a book to read on her return flight home tomorrow morning.

Hubby and I haven't been alone for about a month now and my brother will be arriving in 10 days! I have to continue to get better and we are looking forward to spending time with him.

Have a good nite all, Happy

Hubby got hired to do a 'work from home job'

by: Buttercup2   Category: Family News   Keywords: work, from, home, job

Well hubby went through the interview by phone and has passed all his screening tests and will start working from home for his part-time job starting October 30th. So at least he'll be at home while he needs to keep a second job. When, and if I get SSD, then he can stop the second job and we will both be grateful!

My aunt leaves tomorrow morning and I will miss her company a great deal. She is a sweet heart of a person and is so easy to be with. She is also so good to us in so many ways. We are very lucky.

So tonight after hubby gets done with his part-time job we will all go out to eat for dinner together. There is a nice little Italian restaurant where we all enjoy the food and it is not ultra expensive. Tomorrow we have to have her at the airport by 10 am for her 11 o'clock flight.

I finished typing 7 chapters of her book and will wait for more once she returns home. Then we have to find a reasonable publisher to publish her book.

Tomorrow during the day we are just planning a restful day for us.

Peace and Hugs,
Aly

I've missed being here

by: Buttercup2   Category: Health

Well it seems like its been a very long time since I've felt up to posting or spending time at the computer. I started not feeling well last week and was extremely tired but couldn't figure out what was wrong with me. I woke up in the middle of the night a few nights ago with a horrible UTI and had to get to the hospital. Tomorrow I have to follow up with my primary care dr. It was a very scary event of which I'll omit the details but needless to say we were at the hospital for several hours while they treated me.

I've done a lot of sleeping since then from the illness and the strong antibiotics. I still have company with me also until Saturday and then on the 10th of October my brother is coming to visit so I have to get feeling well again.

Hubby is still working too much and I miss him so much. I hate the fact that we need the money so badly that we have very little quality time together :(

I hope things are well in your worlds.

Hugs and Peace,
Aly

Drink lots of green tea!

by: Buttercup2   Category: Health   Keywords: health, green, tea

People who drink at least a pint of green tea each day have a lower risk of death, a Japanese study shows.

The lower overall death risk among green tea drinkers appears to be due to a lower risk of death from heart disease. And the benefit of green tea is especially pronounced in women, find Shinichi Kuriyama, MD, PhD, Tohoku University School of Public Policy in Sendai, Japan, and colleagues.

Green tea is a very popular drink in Japan. But some people drink more than others do. Women who drink five or more 3.4-ounce cups of green tea every day cut their risk of heart disease by 31% compared with women who drink one or fewer 3.4-ounce cups. Men who drink this much green tea cut their heart disease risk by 22%.

"Green tea may prolong your life through reducing heart disease and stroke," Kuriyama tells WebMD. "Our findings might explain the differences in mortality profile between Japan and the United States. The Japanese age-adjusted rate of mortality due to [heart disease and stroke] is about 30% lower than that of the United States."

The findings appear in the Sept. 13 issue of The Journal of the American Medical Association.

U.S. pedophile priests

by: Buttercup2   Category: Latest News   Keywords: pedophile, priests, US, Mexico, haven

Mood: disgusted

Weak law enforcement and compliant Church authorities make Mexico a haven for U.S. pedophile priests fleeing justice, a victims' group said on Wednesday.

The Survivors' Network of those Abused by Priests, or SNAP, which helped bring a lawsuit this week against two of North America's top cardinals, said it knows of 46 mostly U.S. priests hiding out south of the border.

"Mexico has really become a secure place because here judicial authorities don't track them down and nothing happens," said group spokesman Eric Barragan.

The U.S. Catholic Church has been tarnished by a pedophile priest scandal that erupted in Boston in 2002 and spread to almost every diocese in the nation.

Several U.S. Catholic priests have been prosecuted, multimillion dollar payouts have been made to scores of pedophile victims and church files revealed that some bishops repeatedly transferred priests accused of abusing minors to other parishes rather than reporting them to police.

Barragan said Mexican pedophile priests, to a lesser degree, often flee to the United States.

His U.S.-based group helped filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles on Tuesday that accused Cardinal Roger Mahony of Los Angeles and Mexico City's Cardinal Norberto Rivera of allowing a priest wanted for multiple sex abuse to flee California for Mexico.

Rivera is Mexico's most senior Catholic clergyman and was mentioned as an outsider candidate last year to succeed Pope John Paul II.

The suit was brought by Mexican former altar boy Joaquin Aguilar, 25, who says he was raped by Catholic priest Nicolas Aguilar in Mexico in 1994.

It claims that Mahony facilitated Father Aguilar's flight to Mexico in 1988, when a U.S. warrant was issued for his arrest, without notifying law enforcement in Los Angeles.

Prosecutors were investigating allegations that he had abused more than 20 boys in the Los Angeles archdiocese.

Mahony's spokesman, Tod Tamberg, said the conspiracy charge was "preposterous and without foundation" and the Mexico City archdiocese said Rivera "feels at ease because there was no cover up."

SNAP said it had hired private investigators who tracked down Aguilar to rural southern Mexico where he has been saying Mass at a convent and three different parishes and living out of his car with no fixed address.

This kind of story makes me ILLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!

I typed and I typed and I typed some more!

by: Buttercup2   Category: Daily Deeds   Keywords: typing, book

I spent much of the day typing the rough draft of the book for my aunt. She also has a short story for children that she would love to find an artist for so that it can get published. Any would be artists out there willing to help?

When I wasn't doing that I was cleaning and putting things away. My sister and my aunt may come to stay with us this weekend and I am fall-cleaning up, lol.

I also made a killer meatloaf for supper and prior to that I went swimming. So here I am, struggling and tossing and turning and sleep is escaping me again. My cat is happy as he gets to have company. I am unhappy as this will leave my aunt alone in the morning to fend for herself when I finally do fall asleep.... arghhhhhhhh...

Peace and Hugs,
Aly

A restless night

by: Buttercup2   Category: Health

leads to a tired and grumpy morning for us both. Nothing mean towards each other, just fatigue and feeling out of sorts abit. I drove hubby to work so we could have the car today and run some errands. Some days I just can't stand being here and feeling trapped. Getting up so early and running him to work, them picking him up at 4 to get him to the next job at 430 and then picking him up at 830 makes for a lot of running. I will be so glad if he gets the news that he's hired for the work at home position soon.

Sleepy head is going to try and catch a few more winks. I'll post again later on.

Peace to your hearts,
Aly

This was one helluva Monday!

by: Buttercup2   Category: Friends   Keywords: Friends, divorce, mid, life, crisis

Mood: confused

Well this day started with phone calls and visits by troubled friends and ended kind of confusing. Two friends going thru major life changes and neither one knowing what to expect next or what decision to make!

I am exhausted just from listening most of the day. I did manage to get some of the typing done for my aunt's memoirs in between it all as I needed something to put my focus on. I have one more chapter to go and then I have to wait until she gets back to Florida to send me the rest of the chapters. She will also need some illustrations and then a publisher who won't charge her an arm and a leg for publishing it. Her poetry already cost her several thousand to print so this has to be a much smaller figure. I will do what I can to find someone reasonable for her to get the job done.

Tomorrow is back to the pool day to resume my new exercise program! I also spoke to the manager here about the washing machine ruining several of our clothes. She is going to see if we can get reimbursed for those items and has ordered us a new washing machine. We will make due in the meantime and be careful to only use the gentle cycle as its the only one working correctly.

Hugs and Peace, Happy

We watched the Family Stone tonight

by: Buttercup2   Category: Daily Deeds   Keywords: movie, Family, Stone, friends, cards

Well we filled our day with some of the weekly chores, swimming Crazy, playing spades and eating pizza, and finished the day out watching, "The Family Stone." I am still shaking my head over the number of themes or subplots they used in this one movie. It was just too much for one movie to believe. The acting was good, but the movie an overkill for plots. Oh well, at least that is our humble opinion.

I am so glad we finally got to the pool to enjoy the gorgeous day out here and to get the much needed exercise to help manage my fibro symptoms. I know I will be ok with adding it to my daily deeds now that I've finally gotten over the hurdle of going for the first time in months.

Peace and Hugs,
Aly

Chiropractic care

by: Buttercup2   Category: Health   Keywords: chiropractor, health

Well I'm not sure what I would do without my chiropractor to put me back together every now and then. It seems I have a rib which moves out of place when it feels like it as well as subluxations now and then. He takes care of me and hubby with TLC whenever he treats us. We are lucky to have found one that is so caring and gentle as well.

Hubby interviewed for a job working from home and had to submit all the paperwork and go for a drug screening test etc this afternoon so it was quite a hectic morning.

It seems that lately I have very little time for here even though I keep meaning to post more items.

Tomorrow hubby is home and I think we will just be chilling and watching some movies together. I think my aunt is going to go play some at the casino tomorrow to have some fun and give us some time alone together, lol.

Hugs and Peace,
Aly

Started typing my aunt's book today

by: Buttercup2   Category: Daily Deeds

Well I finally took some time to get my aunt's book typed up. I only had the intro done and today I got the first chapter done as well so I am happy about that. I hope to get more done tomorrow. I also get to see my chiropractor tomorrow and hubby has an interview for a work from home position,,, yeah!!!!

It feels good to have this goal of getting her book typed for her. I have 4 more chapters here to do and she has some in Ft. Lauderdale to send to me to type up. Then we need to find an artist and a publisher. So much more to do!

Hope everyone had a good day!

Hugs and Peace,
Aly

I lost my breath, I lost my wings

by: Buttercup2   Category: Health

Today was a day filled with a doctor's visit both for my aunt and myself. She needed some additional tests, while I needed an adjustment and a shot for my body pain. My doctor is so understanding and so kind. I am not sure I could manage without her. She understands fibromyalgia so well.

I have missed not being online much these past few days and I am hoping I can do more over the next few days.

Hugs and Peace,

Aly
