Beefy Or Peachy

Sorry I haven't been keeping up with my blog

Since returning home I've been unpacking and trying to get rested from the trip and settled back into 'normal' living here.

I miss being with my sons terribly, but after visiting CT again, I realize I could never live there again. Not only does the weather not suit me or my body, but the stairs are a pita.

Our cat Jordan is so happy we are home, he is all over us, cuddling us all the time. Pets are so soothing.

At the end of this week we will be having company, so in the interim, I'll try to get some more blogging done!

Peace to you all ~

Wahoo, we're in CT!

We're having a wonderful time enjoying family visits, a trip to the beach collecting seashells, walking along the rocks, putting our feet in the water and smelling the salt air :)

My brother and sister-in-law thru me an awesome birthday party complete with poppers and masks, etc...

I haven't had a chance to watch the news so for now, its not affecting my spirits. My gallbladder is hanging in there for the trip! Yeahhhhh :)

Hubby and I needed this getaway, and no family squabbles yet. We still have one week to go and will make the most of it, grin :)

Peace~

Avoid the news?

I think I'd rather not show news highlights at all.. and bury my head in the sand for awhile.

Since I'll be vacationing for a bit.. I won't get to post as much. We dropped off our cat tonight at our friends house.. and he was so distraught it is almost not worth traveling.. dang, we love our cat.. he has us so spoiled :)

Hugsss... and take care of yourselves.

Every day is special, if we make it so~

Three children, three adults killed at DA investigator's ranch

"Deputies responding to a 911 call Tuesday found the bodies of three adults and three children scattered throughout a sprawling ranch home owned by an investigator for the district attorney's office, authorities said.

Sheriff Bob Doyle said the bodies "had trauma to the head area," but he declined to say exactly how the victims died or if they were related. The children included two girls and a boy, all under 15, Doyle said."

Is it just me, or do others feel a change in the # of violent acts being committed here?

Report: Hacker infiltrated government computers

The FBI confirmed Tuesday the accuracy of a New York Times report that software on routers, computers that control the Internet, were compromised last year by a hacker who claimed that he had infiltrated systems serving U.S. military installations, research laboratories, and NASA.

The Times reported, and the FBI confirmed, that the focus of the investigation is a youth in Uppsala, Sweden, who has been charged as a juvenile.

Why do we hear about these things a year later?

Soaking up some sun before I go...

oh baby, do I love the sunshine out here!

Taking a little break, pack a little more, maybe take a small dip in the pool to cool off, and I'm good to go :)

Packing, Packing, and more sorting, laundry and Packing

How I love it....NOT!

Now how can one pack light for a trip to the NE? You simply can't. So that sets one up for packing for two destinations instead of one! That's my theory and I'm sticking to it, lol. One set of clothes for the semi spring weather, and the other for the sporadic cold spells and rain. Oy vey. That means bulging suitcases are adorning every room at the moment, lol.

Then there's our spoiled rotten cat.... having to stay with a friend of ours. We're transporting him there tonight in his carrier that he hates. That means he'll have a touch of asthma on the way. It also means  he'll hide under her bed for days before coming out and finding food, water and a place to pee. She should have an interesting couple of weeks with him. He does know her and love her.. but not her home.. that will be the problem, right there. It will be an interesting story to be sure.

Oh, and did I mention, I HATE FLYING? Now this is a piece of good news for my hubby, who absolutely loves flying and is completely anal about getting to the airport early... I suspect to just make me suffer longer,,, lmao here.

Do we sound like the normal average family getting ready for a visit with family?  GRIN.

Hugs to everyone deserving of one... smile~

ps. and of course its my job not to rest a minute as I have to keep the plane flying while I'm aboard... lol.

North Carolina Church Kicks Out Members Over Political Views

" For many residents of this hamlet nestled in the Smoky Mountains, nothing is as important as church. That's why nine longtime members of East Waynesville Baptist Church are so devastated after being kicked out of the congregation for, they say, supporting Democrat John Kerry's presidential bid. They say Pastor Chan Chandler led a charge to boot them from the church because they supported the Massachusetts senator's 2004 campaign.

Edith Nichols, who was ousted from the congregation along with her husband, said the pastor's instructions were clear: "Those that did not support Bush needed to leave, that they were sinners that believed in abortion and all the wrong things."

Lewis Inman, a deacon for 20 years, said being thrown out of his church was worse than when he was laid off from his job of 30 years.

"I'm very, very sad. This has been our church home, our church family," Inman said, his voice trembling. "It's the only church I've ever been in."

Good grief.

Gadget may soon decipher baby cries and gurgles....

"The cryptic cries, grins and gurgles of babies that leave parents dumbfounded could soon be deciphered, if the wonders of modern technology are to be trusted.

Three years after a toymaker scored a smash hit with the "Bowlingual" gadget to interpret the warp and woof of a dog's life, Japanese researchers may have an even bigger sensation -- a translator for baby babbling.

"We aim to develop a device to read babies' feelings," says Kazuyuki Shinohara, a neurobiology professor at the state-run Nagasaki University who leads the research team.

The gadget could be a godsend in a country where a growing number of young people find child-rearing too burdensome, although some experts are cautious about an almost science-fiction world where babies are understood with machines before they learn to talk."

Well this could be great for all parties concerned.. if its accurate!

Deep sigh of remorse over this news....

"Two girls, both under 10 and described as best friends, were today found killed in a wooded park near a small Illinois town. Laura Hobbs and Krystal Tobias died from "stab wounds" but were not sexually assaulted. "We do have two murdered children, and we don't have anybody in custody," Zion police chief Doug Malcolm said."

Ran around all day getting ready for our trip on Wednesday

merde, I'm tired!

So much to do before you go on a trip. So many things to take care of, services to stop, gifts to buy, etc.

I am not ironing before I go as over the years I've learned you just have to iron the clothes again once you get there. No more duplication of effort on my part.

It will be hard to leave our 80 degree weather to go to the 60's and partly cloudy, but seeing family will make up for it.

We went for our 'tune up' with our chiropractor before the long plane ride on Wednesday. I'll try to sneak on a computer there to post when I can :).

Hoping everyone had a decent Monday.

The battle to save our schools

"No Child Left Behind" is the Bush administration's daring attempt to improve the worst U.S. schools. But many parents, educators, and students are finding that program's use of testing is having unforeseen consequences for children, especially minority children. "

There have been allegations of cheating, dropouts and more ramifications from this program.

Not only our are kids education at stake here, but the moral fiber of our kids is being eroded as the parents are taking the brunt of 'keeping up with the Jones's' and keeping up with our rotten economic times. Our kids are left alone far too much, left without supervision and unfortunately, ending up in gangs, drugs, sex without protection, no thought of the AIDS problem, thinking that won't happen to me. Our children seem to be coming in second in importance in the scheme of things in life. That needs to end.

Education hearings rigged, say science organizations

"Scientists have refused to participate in state Board of Education hearings this past week on how the theory of evolution should be treated in public schools, but they haven't exactly been silent.

About a dozen scientists, most from Kansas universities, spoke each day at news conferences after evolution critics testified before a board subcommittee. They expect to continue speaking out as the hearings wrap up on Thursday.

"They're in, they do their shtick, and they're out," said Keith Miller, a Kansas State University geologist. "I'm going to be here, and I'm not going to be quiet. We'll have the rest of our lives to make our points."

The scientists' boycott was led by the American Association for the Advancement of Science and Kansas Citizens for Science, which believe the hearings are rigged against the teaching of evolution."

My hubby gets nuts over this topic. If there's anyone who'd like a good discussion with him, please comment! :)

50-1 Giacomo upsets field to win Kentucky Derby

Awesome, gotta love it when the long shot wins!

Long shot Giacomo did what his sire, Holy Bull, failed to do when he won the Kentucky Derby on Saturday in the second biggest upset in the 131-year history of America's most famous race.

It was sweet revenge.

Holy Bull was the favorite in 1994 when a trainer named Nick Zito beat him with a colt named Go for Gin.

Eleven years later, before the second-largest crowd in Derby history, the son, a 50-1 shot, blew past not one or two but five of Zito's entries and won the $2.4 million Derby by a half-length over Closing Argument.

International manhunt for Daniel W Hiers

Once a respected police officer in Charleston, Daniel William Hiers is now the focus of an international manhunt -- accused of child molestation and murder.

The allegations against Hiers left one South Carolina woman "in total shock." "I was scared," said Leslie, who asked that her last name not be used because she is accusing Hiers of molesting her 11-year-old daughter.

Parents around the world... unite and safeguard your children from these molesters. They come in all forms, uniforms, family members or friends of the family. Sometimes the most trusted commit the most heinous crimes against our children.

To have a Happy Mothers Day, we must know our children are safe from harm.

Peace~

Just heard my ex father in law died a few days ago

really hit me hard in the pit of my stomach. My ex husband went to visit him yesterday and found him dead and he had been for a few days.

Fred was a man I always admired and cared about. He did so much for his community and the State of CT.

We will all miss Fred.

Treasure each day, everyone.

Nude art gathering in frigid cold weather

Almost 2,000 people braved frigid weather early Saturday but didn't get cold feet when they all went naked in the center of gothic Bruges in an art "happening" organized by photographer Spencer Tunick.

With temperatures closing in on freezing, winds lashing the turrets of the city and rain putting a shine on the ancient cobblestones, 1,950 people shed their clothes at dawn, with many posing in a street close to the medieval Belfry or touring the canals on boats.

"It was a good feeling, everybody went naked and there was this sense of togetherness. There was no shame," said Charlotte Logghe, 28.

Can't imagine doing that, freezing cold weather or not, lol!
