Stolen from my livejournal associates...

by: DJMaru

Mood: Baffled
Listening to: a britpop compliation CD

50 things you may not know about me that you probably do not need to know...

  1. When I was young and naive I wanted to be a policeman
  2. I then wanted to be a lawyer
  3. I now pretend to be a journalist
  4. I have only ever failed two job interviews
  5. One was for PricewaterhouseCoopers (because I was drunk)
  6. The other was for JJB Sports (because I said I wouldn't tackle a shoplifter)
  7. My hair was blue for a couple of days
  8. And pink for several months (and featured on my passport photo)
  9. I am currently trying to grow a grape vine called Rowan
  10. I hate 'Goldfinger' by Ash
  11. I have three alter-egos
  12. Cat Deeley once blew me a kiss (probably out of politeness - but still)
  13. I could name-drop further
  14. I'm scared of dogs, spiders, heights, dentists and having my hair cut
  15. Cherries make me sick
  16. As do peeled plum tomatoes or cooked tomatoes (that haven't been liquidised)
  17. The first concert I ever went to was Cliff Richard
  18. I have paid to see Steps, Spice Girls and Britney Spears
  19. Despite the above I have been a music journalist
  20. I once ran a half-marathon for charity
  21. I have flown a plane
  22. I was taken to court once and lost (I pleaded guilty to not having a Metro ticket - I didn't attend the hearing)
  23. I have worked as a stained glass manufacturer, a wine-waiter and a white van driver
  24. I am the fifth hit on Google for my full name - the others seem much cleverer
  25. Numbers one, four and six are all lecturers
  26. My doctor once told me I shouldn't play football as I'm accident prone
  27. I generally play to the right of midfield and can't score from inside the box
  28. I'd quite like to do stand-up but I'm not funny and don't have any confidence (or material)
  29. My politics have mellowed from Bolshevik to Liberal
  30. I hate birthdays and generally don't tell people when mine is until I'm sure they've made other plans
  31. I tend to flit from one idea to the next but would like to see some things through
  32. I don't drink coca-cola for ethical reasons
  33. I am not and never have been a vegetarian
  34. I'd quite like to live on a canal boat but I'd never fit my stuff on one
  35. I have a scar on my left hand which is the only way I ever learned left from right
  36. Ah, now this is a good one, I have a blue dot cataract in my eye which doesn't affect sight and is extremely rare
  37. I have failed pretty much every exam I've ever revised for (so I don't revise)
  38. The best essay mark I ever received was for an essay which cited Trisha, The Bill and Hollyoaks - it was a law essay!
  39. I enjoy cooking and sometimes I'm good at it
  40. The nicest thing I've ever eaten was Lindian Baby Shrimp at a rooftop restaurant on the island of Rhodes
  41. I didn't wear jeans until I was about 20, I hated them
  42. Most of my early memories didn't actually happen
  43. I get electric shocks from lots of things - including my girlfriend (no cheap jokes)
  44. The last fight I was in resulted in me being knocked over a table as my FRIEND pulled his arm back to hit someone (I've not been in many fights)
  45. My thumb dislocates in exams, because the more stressed I get, the harder I press down
  46. I like penguins
  47. When I used to work as a waiter one of the chefs regularly threw knives at me - I learned to duck (rumour has it he ended up stabbing a customer)
  48. I used to have a stalker and never worked out who it was
  49. If I won the lottery it would change my lifestyle, but only because I'd be more laid back and have a house and car
  50. This was harder than I thought

Who I should vote for...

by: DJMaru

Mood: Good job I didn't have to decide for myself
Listening to: Furious typing

Who Should You Vote For?

Who should I vote for?

Your expected outcome:Liberal Democrat

Your actual outcome:

Labour -14
Conservative -55
     Liberal Democrat 78
UK Independence Party -14
     Green 17

You should vote: Liberal Democrat

The LibDems take a strong stand against tax cuts and a strong one in favour of public services: they would make long-term residential care for the elderly free across the UK, and scrap university tuition fees. They are in favour of a ban on smoking in public places, but would relax laws on cannabis. They propose to change vehicle taxation to be based on usage rather than ownership.

Rock the Pope Vote

by: DJMaru

Mood: Papal
Listening to: The Holy See crashing against the Holy Rocks

As the Washington Post accurately pointed out recently, there is support for Father Dougal McGuire to take over the papacy.

I would like to take this opportunity to lend my support to Father Dougal and to launch a new poll (right).

The Last Poll (not Pole)

by: DJMaru

Mood: Polling the electorate
Listening to: Phone Taps

Thankyou for taking part in our last poll "Are you a member of a terrorist organisation?"

Although we didn't seem to catch Osama the details of your responses will be passed on to the Home Office and US State Department anyway, and will be recorded on your ID cards.

The results are as follows...
"I wasn't last time I checked" 37.5%
"Does Scouts count?" 25%
"I'm American (probably a terrorist)" 12.5%
"I'm a member of the coalition of the willing" 12.5%
"Denial ain't a river in Egypt honey" 12.5%
