Missing my aunt

by: Buttercup2   Category: Family   Keywords: aunt, passed, away

I must admit that I miss my aunt terribly. She was always there for anyone in the family in their time of need. She truly was an 'earth angel' and hated to see anyone suffer and would do all she could to help that person out. For me, she was here several times even the summer before she passed away she was here helping me when I broke my humerous. She left unexpectedly with no real explanation but later we found out she had been sick here a few times throwing up and just not feeling well. After she got home and after tests were done they told she had cancer in her stomach and had perhaps 6 months to live. We were all in shock. She was told if she had some surgery she might get a bit more time but that was not to be the case. She lived 3 weeks after the surgery in and out of a coma. She couldn't really eat and all her systems were shutting down. Hubby and I went and arrived the day after her surgery. We were only able to stay with her for 5 days due to his work but my brother and his wife had more time that they could spend with her and they did until the day she died. We then later took more time off to fly to Maine for her funeral. Of course we didn't have the money to handle all these trips so we got small loans each time but we had to be there for her and her partner. This aunt had always been more of a 'mother' to be then my own mom knew how to be for most of her life. She will always be held in a special place in my heart and was an exceptional role model in my life.

If she were alive and she knew of my current situation she would be on a plane to be here and help us. We wouldn't have to ask for help. People like that are most definitely the 'earth angels' who walk among us and honor us with their presence.

I feel her presence with me now as I write about her and I can feel the tears of sorrow, of love, and gratitude for all she shared with me while she was alive.

Peace and love to you my dearest aunt,
Aly
